Oddly enough, you get less radiation at a nuke plant than you do on your typical vacation to a national park. I applied for a job as a nuclear operator out here, but unfortunately didn't get it.
As was stated before, a lot of engineering jobs are opening up due to a lot of old engineers retiring, and there is definitely a shortage of QUALIFIED engineering students. Most entry engineering positions start out at over 60k, and sadly, all they look at is college GPA, and/or who you know. Your actual talent as an engineer only affects you after you get hired.
