KICK'N IT IN MY 88 DX
this is my first car. the interior/exterior is in good shape and runs great I got it for $600 I think it was a steal. How ever it does have 230,000 miles on it, only a 4speed manual, and 1.5 L engine probily cranking out about 95 hp. but hey it came with a nice cd deck w/ remote. I loved it from the very moment i sat in it, which I find to be odd because I've always had my eyes set on the american muscle. But now I'm making my transition into the tuner scene.

I think the car has a lot of potential. I got some big plans for Lahonda thats what I named her, hints my screen name. just to clear things up Lahonda is not french for honda nor am I french in any way. Lahonda is ment to be like one of those weird black chick names like Lafonda or something like that.

Any ways I would like some background info on this particular car as well as some 4th gens assuming this is a 4th gen. I'm pretty sure I'm in the right place but i could be wrong.
 
if the engine is the D15B1 it is 70hp - the D15B1 and 4 speed came in the Civic STD model
 
Welcome! I guess you can say the EF's are the OG"s. They have a very nice suspension setup and the some of the suspension stuff can be swapped with the 90-01 Integra or other 88-00 Civics. The 88 rear shocks are different though; they're like the Integra Type-Rs. You can always swap the rear lower control arm and run the fork-style ones though. These cars are awesome autoX cars because they're lightweight also.

You can stuff almost any other Honda engine in there else; but it's a tight fit.

well for now I'm just driving the car till summer. when I graduate I want to use my graduation money to swap my d series for a k series right know I am aiming towards a k20a. I don't know what I need transmission wise but I would like a nice 5speed. after that I'll work on the exaust and suspenion systems before droping in a turbo.

what I'll probily do during the school year is slap a body kit on the car and of course throw some D's on it (throw on some rims). and possibly have the car repainted.
 
yeah I'm do'n my own labor I'm not paying to have some one do what me and my uncles can do. I know how to do metal work and some engine work and my 2 uncles are both mechanics ones a transmission specialist and the other one works for Howdy Honda.

don't waste time and money on a k. just get a good sohc vtec and turbo it. or even a b18a.
