Got the car to get good gas mileage, the rings are bad, so the engine needed a rebuild. I decided to swap the D16A1 from the civic into it and rebuild the ZC for the civic.

Black top owns Brown top beeyotch. Good luck boosting yours, might as well switch to carbs :p
Thanks, but neither car is done.
I know I know, as soon as the teg's on the road, I'll devote my time and money to the hatchy.

I'd like to see that when it's done. Now quit jackin my thread noob! :D

I did some more work, got the engine out of the hatch, the trans off, wiring harness off, etc. Didn't get any pics, but it'll be back on the road soon.

Ok, so the integra runs now, but it won't idle. At first it had a bad wandering idle, but now it just bogs out and dies. Check engine light comes on immediately, but I haven't checked it yet. I know what you're thinking, check the EACV, well here's the weird part:

This engine ran beautifully when it was in the civic. and the same EACV is now in the integra. So the problem has to have something to do with something on the integra. I'm using the engine harness from the teg, a different O2 sensor, and of course the MAP sensor on the teg. All of which are my prime suspects. Everything else that I can think of was swapped from the civic which ran great. I was under the impression that the O2 sensor isnt used until it's up to temperature, but I'm not sure. The O2 wiring was jacked up with 2 crimp connections, so I stripped it back and soldered it properly, but since it used to be crimped to the shroud (which is grounded), it could've burned out the o2 sensor? I dunno, I guess I'll check the code and go from there

    :(

    Fixed both codes:

Code 7 was the TPS, The plug-in has a chunk broken off from putting that engine in and out of cars over the last few years. I pushed the plugin all the way back on and that code went away.

Code 9 was the CPS, I tested the resistance on the sensor and it was out of spec, so I swapped it for the one on the ZC and that code went away.

BUT IT STILL WON'T FUCKIN IDLE!

I tried swapping the idle solenoid and MAP sensor: same problem
    swapped ECU's: same problem
Tested continuity through the harness, it was good, but this harness has been molested and is suspect.
Also, the TPS is still one of my main suspects as it has been banged around and is missing a chunk that keeps the harness plugged in.

Plan is (next time I'm out there) to swap the TPS for the one off the ZC and calibrate it. Then go through ALL the grounds on the harness and make sure they all are in good shape.

:( Shit I'm fucking tired of working on this crapmobile.

On the bright side, 30mpg here I come!

see....if it was a browntop we could all scream "VACUUM LINE" and you could check all 538 of them over the next 3 weeks

it probably wouldn't be a vacuum line, but it'd give you something to do

check the fuel pump, it may be priming but turning off after you throw the ign.
-87 back they just run all the time, 88+ they prime, build pressure, shut off, then run once you crank the car

Well, I don't think it's the pump, it will run just fine if i give it a little throttle, but when I let off, it chokes out and dies. Maybe the EACV went bad since it ran in the civic like 3 weeks ago? Unlikely, but I dunno.

I'm goin out there today to check the TPS and the harness grounds. I hope I can fix it.

It finally decided to start idling decently.

I adjusted the idle air screw, but that didnt seem to do much, it still bogged out and died.
Then I realized that the idle up solenoid was bouncing back and forth. So, I checked the book, and it said that the idle-up solenoid was dependant on the temp. sender. When I went to check that, I found that the connector was loose and wouldnt fit snugly on the nipple/stud of the temp sender. The connector being housed in plastic, I resorted to crushing it down a tad so that it would contact the sender properly. Kinda ghetto, but I was at a peak of frustration at this point. That seemed to keep the idle up solenoid from going crazy, and the boggy idle smoothed out.

I also had a problem with it overheating, and the fan wouldn't turn on. I realized that I had the upper and lower radiator hoses swapped
After fixing that, the fan still wouldn't kick on, but I said fuck it, I'm taking this thing for a rip.

I got out on the road and she drove flawlessly. plenty of power, smooth shifting, and it even tracked straight down the road, despite the fact that the steering wheel is turned 90 deg. from swapping the steering rack ^_^

After running it down the highway trying to set the rings as best I could, I noticed that there was a cloud of blue smoke that was stalking me no matter how fast I went trying to outrun it. I immediately assumed that I had glazed the cylinder walls and that it was smoking from blow-by. Shit, a brand new engine, toasted already. After pulling it back in the garage, however, I realized I had a gnarly leak coming from my axle seals, and that it was dripping tranny oil on the exhaust. Phew!

All it needs now is new axle seals and to have the fan situation fixed, then she should be tearing up the streets!
