Just a mention, if you ever wanted to experiment this place is having a sale.

Extreme Lambo Doors Inc. - Your Number One Source for Bolt-On Vertical Lambo Door Kits and Systems

I have an evil plan. I was considering shaving the doors as well. The teg set comes with a 650lb shock but you can go up to a 750. My idea was to hit the button, door swings out and then rises...

Would probably never work but with the kit so cheap I am SO tempted...

Even better i could have an air gun that shoots out rice grains as it opens, gawd that would be awesome...

For the record I bought the doors, still on the fence about the shave...

    Shaving is itchy...

That sounds like welding, I only ever mastered the cutting part...

You know the lines of a teg might take to van style doors, put the slider right above the rear wheel well. But again that sounds like welding. Someday I would like to actually get this thing on the road again. Now that its getting warmer I'm gonna pull the engine so I can paint it finally.

you know lambo's you need to sometimes weld the hinges on??
and you need to roll the fenders..IMO not worth it,but its your car, post a finished product..and def. get the 750's because the 650 will wear out quickly

Actually I was thinking about the 750´s. I was gonna buy a spare set anyway for just that eventuallity. Spot welding I might be able to handle. If not I know a Hull Tech up on base.

As far as finishing the thing, I´ve got all the body parts I just need a nice warm day to do the body work and start painting. I got the new carpet in too. One weekend I´m gonna lift out the engine and throw it up on a stand and clear out the engine bay for when the day comes I can paint it. I´m still on the fence about tearing out the windows though...

    Nail in the Coffin

I know this is an old ass thread but its been a while since I posted. I went through with intsalling the driver's side door and I feel it would be remiss of me to not say what a pain in the dick this whole experiance was.

To shorten the process I will say: Fuck lambo doors...

Getting the hinges off, putting the new ones on, installing the piston (650lb was fine the 750's way too much unless you have 36 inch biceps...) and adjusting the various points was not all that hard. Do not ever use the damn crimp connectors for lengthening your wires though, they suck. No, they fucking blow is more like it. Man up and just solder the damn things, which is what I did in the end. It also helps if you get the wires right (yes I crossed two I'm not too proud to admit it).

The trouble is the fender. You have to roll the metal that sits over the hinge so that you will get the proper fit. USE AN ENGLISH WHEEL!!! I cut it in places with my cutting wheel and beat it down with a rubber mallet. I had to bend the shit out of it to get it to fit right anyway so I shaped it back as I went along. Really it didn't look all that bad for what I did to it.

Maybe I should call this how to Bubba lambo doors...

Anyway, the gap left between the fender and the door looked like the grand canyon. I could clearly see the wires behind the fender. I was not amused. Further more when you acutated the door all the way up it had no place to sit. In the end your door panel ends up sitting on the frame right beside the windshield. This is only going to destroy your paint job in the end. Lastly everytime I got into the damn thing I had to duck under the god damned door. I'm 5'8 and about a 135lbs; if it is too hard for me to get into the damn thing, don't even consider it unless you are smaller than me or some sort of contortionist.

In short, if you want lambo doors buy a fucking lamborghini. Otherwise, just say no...
