So i have 250 bucks to spend (maybe 300) and i have no clue what the fuck to get. (birthday cash) the only thing i can think of that id like to have is a new lcd flat panel monitor. im open to suggestions for other ideas too. Anyways, i was looking online and ive been browsing newegg, bestbuy, office depot, stalples, circuitcity and all that shit. Honestly, i realy dont know who makes good ones. Ofcourse ive seen the 200 dollar 19 inch acer or westinghouse or proview, but ive never heard of them and the price seems way low. id like to get something 17inch, 19 would be sweet but more $$ and im on limited funds. i REALLLLLy like THIS one. lol. but seriously, whats a good brand, model, contrast ration (500 and up is decent, right?) Im not a gamer, i only play CS:S but id like it to be a bit more clearer and stuff. (dont talk about video cards, i just got one)

so here are some that i am looking at (in no particular order), give me your opinions, thoughts, recommendations, and anything else that might be useful.

Well Ive posted the same question before and I got LG/Phillips, Sony, Viewsonic and Samsung make the better panels. I settled on a BenQ and supposedly they make some of Dells monitors and I have no quams about it. The only thing that I say that sucks is it only tilts. Cant adjust the height or swivel. But yeah, after rebates, 160 for a 19inch LCD is pretty damn good deal. It was an Office Depot clearance thing.

That HP you posted seemed good except the 25ms. Thats pretty damn slow. Most are like 16ms. Anyway, here is a very good guide.

Its been well received and has a 3yr warranty parts, labor and backlight (which it should have anyway). Oh yeah and they give you the DVI cable, which is nice.
 
ill vouch for the acer ones. :) they are pretty top notch! get one in DVI-D :) i could get you one cheap probably.
 
what kind of video card to you have?

that will narrow it down to anaolg or digital, or either/or.


IMO, go widescreen. its so awesome. even the biggest pics fit on the webpage with no horiz scrolling... and movies and stuff look great on it.

you know i hate dell, but you just can't touch their new widescreen monitors for themoney. i've seen 'em and they look real good. 3yr warranty std. too.

but, if you look hard, i bet you can score it much cheaper.

IMO, spend a little more... get the 20" widescreen... you won't regret it :)

Go with the Dell 20 widescreen, i bought one over x-mas and i love it. I'm a gamer too, and it works just fine for me.

so how you got this acer hookup? im shopping for a 19"ish lcd atm also.

i need low ms for gaming though, 1280x1024, highest possible contrast.
