I've decided that I'm camping this year.... thurs night to monday night, with a break on sunday (as nothing happens sunday.... due to city noise ordinances) drive home to shower, etc, head back sun night) as there's no showers on the property but there is bathrooms, etc).
Lot's of partying... grilling... racing....
anything goes except glass and pets pretty much.

Racing is fri/sat/mon.

May 28th - 31st 2010.

Lime Rock Park

$65 in advance for all 4 days (3 racing) including camping. Can't beat that.
1 day will cost you $35 alone, so the 3rd day + camping is free.

If you've never been, it's a great time. The parking lot is a car porno in itself.... multiple BILLIONS of dollars worth of hot cars. I'm not exaggerating either.

Grand-Am Rolex Series featuring Daytona Prototypes, May 28-31, 2010

For the first time ever, Grand-Am’s exciting Rolex Daytona Prototypes come to Lime Rock! The traditional Memorial Day season-opener will showcase the DPs and GTs in a combined-class race on Monday. On Saturday, the BMWs, Fords, Chevys, Hondas and Porsches in the Continental Tire Challenge will trade paint, along with the fantastically competitive Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series and the equally close Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda (support race to be announced).

anyone else want to go? last time E, Bill, and myself camped, it was 2005. Some pics attached. We had fun.

You can pretty much go anywhere in the pits too... see all the cars and the teams working on their cars right in front of you.

If you're lucky, you might even get to see the Shelby plow truck if it's still for sale. :D

I'll prolly get stuck at work again....

Its fun going to Lime Rock. I was there 2008 right before they changed the track layout. Its lots of fun there and also cool side events such as walk around the track, drive your car in groups, win some nice stuff, see some sponsors that you wouldn't thought of,etc.

Should bring a bicycle. Its pretty fun going around the track during a free day. I
saw some people during that time and it seems pretty cool.

Might find something you need there.

I'm gonna be up there at least twice this year, but not for Grand-Sham.

I'll be there in July, once for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series/Whelen Modified(!) double header, and a week later I'll be back for the ALMS.

EDIT:
B, you said there's nothing to do on Sunday, well there is, 90 miles away. :p The Waterford Speedbowl has their Memorial Day demo derby thing. And don't say it's too far, I needed to be at the track the Saturday night after the ALMS race, and made the trip in just over an hour.

Hoping to make it out for Monday. Gonna be there EARLY as to get a decent spot. Weather is a big factor though.

racing starts at 7am (at least cars on the track). you really don't have to get there WAY early to get a spot.... there's plenty of lawn. The issue is the memorial day parades blocking every major intersection in town. So, you basically have to be in lakeville before 7am or you're going to get blocked by parade road closures and or detours. They race rain or shine.

Yeah, they race rain or shine but I'm not sitting at the top of the Esses in a rain storm. As much as I like racing, its a bit of a haul for me so I want the weather to be nice. Can't do anything about afternoon thunderstorms though. Had one roll through on an ALMS race 4 years ago that nearly changed the whole outcome of the race.

how was it? i'm not in good health as of late so i didn't go. E and bill went up today but haven't come home yet (probably off doing something they shouldn't be :p )

Perfect weather. Went there early and got a good spot near the new uphill section they put in. Had a great time. Not too much downtime in the main race either. Only two big accidents and only delayed the race by about 20 minutes. GT class was far more competitive than the DP's. Never realized how much the GT class RX8's dominated the class. 3-4 of them rolling Corvettes and Camaros.
