Ok, so I got a rar of the SUSE 9.2LiveDVD. I need to know how to copy this thing to a CD so that I can use it. It is supposed to run the OS from the CD, so you don't have to install it.

    The files are...

    INITRD.GZ
    VMLINUZ
    TXTMSG.
    ISOLINUX.CFG
    ISOLINUX.BIN
    CLOOP.TMG
    BOOTLOGO.
    BOOTLOGO.CAT

Also a media folder that contains one more files.

Can I just use Nero to burn a ISO to DVD and then drop it in (well, boot from it, not just drop it in)? I don't want to burn a bunch of DVD to find it doesn't work.

If it's an image, you should just be able to use Nero to burn it. Your file list looks like it was just copied from a disc, so it may not be burnable as a bootable DVD or CD. If you get Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%, you could try to mount the files as a virtual DVD or CD drive and see if it will run.

Ah-ha, I think I have Alcohol 120% somewhere, I will try that. I am going to try burning it, then booting into my back up HD, then running it from there, if I like it, i'll patition that and install it so I can run it from there.

Daemon image = virtual drive = plays from files on a hard drive and shows up as a new drive letter.

I'm not telling him to try and install an OS from a virtual drive- I just want him to try and mount the files as an image to see if it's usable, then try to burn it so he doesn't waste DVDs. :)

It isn't usable :(, I get some corruption error and then it just keeps rebooting, doing the same thing.

Fortunately, I have another Linux liveDVD, KNOPPIX Linux 3.7, and that one works. It's a pretty cool OS for sure, I just don't know where my password and what not is so I can enter it and get on the net.

On a side note, I did find a site that Eric will never leave...http://linuxslut.net/album/linuxsluts/

Hahah it's a good one ****WORK WARNING ON THE LINKY*****

Is SuSE Live different from Pro? I've got 9.2 Pro... either that or Enterprise edition.

I think it is the same thing, it just runs from a disc instead of being installed.

Slackware also has a live version. It's actually the 2nd disc of the install set.
