hey honda swap, long time no post

ive been driving a 99 camry for the past months and have neglected anything honda related purely because im sad i cant put my info to use

anyway, ive recently decided to ask some buddies to keep an eye out for an ef crx si for me because ive decided im done with my full coverage insurance. its too much of a burden and leaving me scrounging for 50 cents for food at the end of the week.

ive been on the search for one for a while and ive decided i want to just wait till i find one thats not running, get it for dirt and put in a d15b vtec and hopefully have a good si tranny thats come along with the car.

im just wondering what kind of times i can expect, frowned upon question, i just figure if ive seen stock si's run flat 16's than the d15b vtec can get in the neighborhood of 15 flat? idk im pulling this out of my ass....

im only wondering this because if i can find a crx soon that is actually running well i can shell out some extra bucks and keep the d16a6...save the money im getting back from no car payment/liability insurance and get a b16 or something thatll b fun.

any input on my choice, im not trying to start a noob post, just a real life public opinion poll i guess

"reliable d15b vtec rex for around 1,500" or "stock rex for now..hiiiiigh mileage...wait 4 months till money for a b16" i guess thats what im getting at

    respond HS!

    EDIT

i just found a crx si for sale for 300 as a shell and for a disasembled d16a6 for an additional 100. if the shell isnt missing anything would this be a great find???

really asking how good of a swap a d15b vtec would be for a crx compared to a b16a is nothing noobish...of course b16a will be better (IMO) in the long run if i want to go boost and make 280whp, just wondering if its worth all the extra money...i dont feel i need to summarize what i just said so im going to stop

yeah the main thing is insurance my car payment...im paying right up to 700 a month just to drive my car like any normal person. i will be saving around 450 a month once i can get a car i can get liability insurance on.

im just wondering if a d15b vtec would be a good choice for both reliability over a 150,000 mile d16 engine, and a power upgrade. or if i should just prey nothing fucks up for a few months and get a b16

make sure to spend a little money on fixing what you have. Dont wory about a swap right now. Check the

    oil for metal shavings
    compression
    plug colors
    timing belt

if those are good than just do a quick tune up and you should be fine until you have enough money for a swap. A d15B is a good motor but it seems you want a b-series later down the road, if so just save for it.

It will be cheaper, 1/2 the work (2 motor swaps) and will save you money!

you pay $750/month to drive a 10 year old car? either your got raped on payments or you have a shitty driving record.

sell the car and get liability on a crx or eg. thats a home payment right there.

Ya you would have to have several felonious driving charges on your record including vehicular manslaughter and repeatedly running over babies and children to get rates that high...wtf...I call bullshit.

Anyway, no one should ever pay more to insure a car than the payment itself. For $700 a month you could buy a REALLY nice car.

i pay 330 a month for full coverage on a 99 camry i pay 200 a month for. insurance is so high because i am an unexperienced driver. all ive got to do is get new rubber on the car, wipers, and new brakes. ill have the rest of the money for those in about 2 weeks thats why im getting really happy and really going for a search for a new car. ill have around 1500+ when i sell the car but id really like to find a steal somewhere rather than these daily crazy posts on craigs wanting 3 grand for a rex!

So...hmmmmm...I am no mathematician but, where is the other $170? Also, yes, you are taking a raping on both the payments AND the insurance.

The only thing stopping me from giving you an internet ho-slapping is the fact that, judging by your username, you are either a fan of severe dismemberment, or the band, both of which are pretty awesome...

Moved on? You mean to harder more violent and brutal music right? Or maybe you like Owl City lol. Ya I saw them live about a year ago. It was awesome. They put on a wicked bomb show. They have come really far too.

Their knew line up now includes

Shannon Lucas - drums - actually talented unlike Pierre

Ryan Knight - lead guitar - was from Arsis and can actually solo. Whoever played lead on Miasma and Nocturnal played THE SAME solo EVERY time. The same scales just rearranged...terrible.

Deflorate is amazing (and pretty cool that it's called deflorate lol). The guitar workis way more intricate, the songs more complex and multi-faceted...it's great. Check it out if you have not. They are actually a metal band now and not just childish slam death core garbage.

idk i dont really like anything past miasma ive been out of metal for a while. ive been listening to folk/indie type shit.

unhallowed was my favorite album but that doesnt sound like it. i dont like the vocals at all and that choppy guitar they started to do is a reason why i didnt them much anymore. choppy guitar with repetitive drums isnt my thing. i liked unhallowed sooooo much more than miasma. bdm was the reason i thought metal would live on but its sounding like almost all else out there.you should know what i mean when i say unhallowed is what really made me like them

I do but obviously you either don't really understand music, or at least metal, and you haven;t been keeping up with metal.

Metal has been around for like 40 years and has evolved and will continue to evolve. If you are bored with metal, listen to Severed Savior, Arsis, Origin, The Faceless, Mastodon, fuck it even Born of Osiris is pretty cool. There is a lot of great stuff and a lot of terrible stuff.

My guess is metal was just a fad or a phase for you. You never really learned about it and you never really cared all that much about it. That is why it did not last. It's not the music, it is you.
