i was lookin at a 92 prelude si with 104k miles on it the other day and i noticed some rust on the side of the door and a bit of flaking paint with some rust on the sunroof.

another thing i noticed was a burning smell when shifting gears.
other than that the car is pretty clean and ran fine

now i think i could get a good price on it, like about 3000-3500, but what i want to know is what are your opinions on such things?
would it be worthwile to buy it with such defects and then fix it up or not?

i wouldn't buy a car with a rusting body.. any engine problems could be dealt with, but a rusting body is bad news (check around the undercoating and see if you see anything else obvious)

:werd: you should see my Escort...I have "time lapse" pictures of the rust on the rear wheel well. it grew and grew, so i cut it out...wish I hadn't...cause now I know i coulda just ground it off.
