i own a 1990 honda crx hf and the engine is supposed to get around 50mpg and im getting around 32mpg. i have 181k miles on it and i know that engines lose mileage as they get older but why such a drastic change? and is there anything i can do to help restore it?

50 mpg Highway. more realisticly 40 for all around...so your not that far off. Try a basic tune up.

I agree with the basic tuneup. Also check your timing and emissions system.
