I'm building an ls/vtec and i'm trying to decide on which pistons to install. I'll be running a b18a1 block with a GSR head. Should I go with integra type-r pistons or Civic type-r??? Also when the pistons are upgraded can I still use the LS rod or will I have to swap those too??? Thanks.

ctr will had good compression, you'll need to use atfermarket rods as clearance may be a problem. what are your plans with the head...get a new intake manifold and ecu program. good luck

What compression are you looking for cause with ctr pistons your compression will probably be 12:5:1 or higher which isn't that great for 93 octane unless tuned for it? Also you can use ls rods but I would get arp rod bolts and headstuds. With the itr pistons probably be like 11:1 or 11:3:1 ball park compession ratio. What cams are you going to run is another question too and is this your daily driver, track car, or weekend warrior?

This will be my daily driven car. I don't want a compression that is too high. I'm shootng for a compression of approx. 11:5. I'll be running a B18c1 head with a obd1 ecu with a 2 stage vtec program (kicks in @ 4500rpm and again @ 5800rpm). I've decided to change the rods anyway. Do you think the ctr pistons will be a better setup with this ecu or should it go with the itr?

get arp rod bolts for your ls rods, one of the weak points in doing an ls/vtec is the rod bolts snapping, not the rods, and when you're going all motor you're fine with the stock ls rods, but you'll need to mill about 1mm off of each of the sides of the rods at the small end to get the ctr pistons to fit on them
