ok i am gonna get a b18b1 ls motor non-vtec. What v-tec head should i use, also what all am i gonna need to make it all work correctly?
 
the GS is the same block as the LS.. the displacement is bigger than a GSR.. so you cant add a gsr head to a gs car and call it a gsr.. RS = LS = GS = b18b1.. GSR = b18c1..
 
I wasn't even thinking about swapping just to "add an R" to the GS. It's pretty hard to find a GSR around here, so I figured I might as well get a GS and put a GSR head on it. This is a non-VTEC to VTEC swap as you know, which is commonly referred to as the LS/VTEC swap. From what I understand, the RS, LS, and GS are all the same except for trim (power locks, windows, a/c, etc)... right? So how come people call it the LS/VTEC swap? It's all the same, huh?
 
yup.. its just that its more common to see an LS than a GS or RS.. anyway, a B18B Vtec built right would blow a GS-R out of the water..

edit: a stock one anyhow.
