ls/vtec vs ls turbo??? help please

hello everyone, i have a 97 integra ls, i was able to get a b18a1 block fo free from a buddy( im told the b18a and b18b blocks are the same) i wanted to do a ls vtec build and maybe turbo it in the future, but i cant find a gsr head thats not ridiculously over priced. now i am wondering if i should just build the b18a and turbo it. what do u guys think would be a better way to go? or does anyone have any other suggestions? any help and advice is geatly appreciated. thx
 
VTEC is overrated IMO.

I'm making plenty of power on my turbo'd LS. Its all in the parts you use, and who tunes it.
 
oh yea.... i might do that then, if the vtec head swap isnt worth the $$ compared to a turbo. with a turbo should i use a block guard or sleeves? is one better than the other?
 
Sleeving is the wise way to do it, that way you can always go for more power. Block guards don't always work perfectly.
