I have a 96 ls, I'm having a dilema choosing a build from research that I have done I've seen some really good lsv builds and really good b20 builds. I know when proprely build and with good suspension and tires these builds can be Very good.
I have the oportunisty to buy a jdm b20 with a gsr head and a gsr Transmition. But I have also heard good on build ls engines and going turbo.
not really sure and I know there's people out there that have done either one so some information advice and tips will be very much appreciated.

what kind of driving do you want to do?

If I had an LS, I would just get a turbo kit and an lsd transmission.

    .

Daily for sure and the intention is going to deffinetly put the car to work.
Street and track but a street car. I thought of that deff lsd. But since I have the opportunity of the b20 I'm keeping my options open

what are you state emissions laws? some states are stricter than others, and you might not be able to legally do some stuff

You're rolling your dice with Cali. If they pop the hood, you're screwed. But anyway, let's assume the engine swap you buy is legit and cost around $2500. You will be at 180hp and 150tq if you're lucky. If you go turbo with that same $2500, you will probably be at 220-250hp and 200tq. If you are going to turbo the b20 vtec later, I would just turbo your current motor and save the money. Unless it's a super cheap b20 and it has papers, i would personally go turbo. Better power, smog legal kits are available, and it has paperwork.

Yeah I though of it. I mean the car pulls now, I only have a intake and ok tires so I know the potential. Turbo would be alot cheaper. But I want to build it and since these b20 and lsv are considere Frankenstein engine the satisfaction of finishing a build would be good. Plus all the knowledge I will aquire by the end of the build for future builds

That makes no sense. you can build the current motor to be much faster for a fraction of the cost. you are going to duplicate work and costs by going that route.

For a first go about in messing with cars, I wouldn't suggest a turbo set up. That's quite involved and if you do it wrong or half ass it, it's probably going to blow up. Do you have friends who have done this before to help out?

I do and there is also my Co worker who have shops that can further assist.
now what would go better with all motor engine for now 4-2-1 tri y headers or 4-2-1 greddy? Both seem good my cousin has tri y on his gsr and from what I can tell (no dyno) they are good.
but I read alot of good on greddy

If your future plan is turbo or a head/engine change, buying a header now might be a waste of money. The ls header won't fit on a vtec head. and it won't be useful for turbo at all.

before you spend a dime, come up with a plan :)
