lx/vtec or swap

i was wondering what you think would be a better decison for me. i have a 96 civic LX and i was wondering whether you thought putting a VTEC head on the engine would be better or just doing a whole swap to a VTEC motor in its complete form

alright well my car has a manual tranny and power isnt really my biggest concern. my car is pretty much all show but i wanted to upgrade my engine to make it so that i could have more power than what i have now.people tell me a b series swap is the way to go and others say doing a VTEC head but no one gives me a legitamit reason for either so your help would be greatly appreciated
