map sensor

i was thinking of ideas of what could be wrong with my car why she don't start incase you don't know what i am talking about, but i was wondering could my map sensor be shot? would i get a CEL for it?

my teg would run like shit but it would start ...it would just have an eratic idle...and the plugs were black

so it will still start tho right it seems so much like a fuel problem i am going to see if putting in the new fuel pump works because they pinch the fuel return line and it starts how wierd is that?
