Marking things NSFW

the way i think of it..if your not supposed to be on HS,and your afraid of being caught doing so,,then quit bitching about NSFW...
also i come on this forum knowing the contents.so i expect there to be stuff like that..
and 2 more things-
1.read the title-if it sounds iffy, dont click until your not going to get in trouble
2. this is HS.if we followed the way you think, then ecery single thread would have NSFW warnings, because we all go off topic, and it leads to that type of content

so here, quit bitching about it,or dont browse the board.that simple

i'd like to refer to a couple of the rules for this site
first is rule #2
Under NO circumstances will pornography or ANY other type of questionable materials be allowed to be posted in ANY forum or images uploaded to the gallery. Doing so will result in your immediate banning from the site. Anything Provactive should have a NWS (not work safe) warning on the TITLE of the thread.

and rule #21
Provocative Content- Please limit the amount of this on the boards. Out-right porn is 100% not allowed. "bikini pics" and things of the sort are OK once in a while, but the image must be LINKED, not embedded, and proceded with a *WORK WARNING* textual warning both ABOVE AND BELOW the link. 80% of our membership browse the forums while at work, including myself. We aren't trying to get people fired. Use your own judgment, but if you have to think about it, you probably shouldn't post it.
he made a simple request
no one should be telling a member that they should just expect it and not come to this site...
obey the fucking rules and he won't have to worry about getting in trouble

here's a link for anyone that needs a refresher course

Wow. I had no idea everyone would get so pissy about it. I just asked if everyone would start following the rules.

Yes, I do browse while at work. No, I don't get in trouble with what/how/when I browse. Yes, I would like to avoid seeing titties on my screen while I'm working. Yes, I do understand the nature of immature kids talking about cars. Yes, I do understand the nature of people who work on cars. Yes, I do understand the living beast we call the internet. Yes, I do disagree with NSFW avatars, because there's nothing I can do to stop those from showing up short of blocking that person.

Just show a little respect to others.

Rules - HondaSwap Forums

What I'm about to say here, I say with all due respect, so please don't get angry.

If those are the rules, and they're meant to be strictly enforced, then why has no one been enforcing them very strictly lately? Yes, we've done a good job keeping actual nude pictures off the forums (except for in the one thread designated for that purpose), but, I've seen a multitude of threads in the lounge lately with embedded pictures (not links to pictures, which is what the rules specify), that are not labeled NSFW above and below (as specified by the rules, once again), which could potentially be a problem for someone viewing the content at work, and nothing is really being done about it.

EDIT: This thread right here is a good example: https://hondaswap.com/members-lounge/teh-funnahh-126222/ There's plenty of NSFW content in there, yet there's no warning in the thread title, and every single picture is embedded and also not labeled...

Can you really blame someone for saying, "well, honestly, this is the Internet and we've got a lot of immature people here posting stuff that technically shouldn't be posted. If you want to be 100% safe about it, you probably just shouldn't visit the lounge area at least during work hours."

It wasn't a statement of authority as per the official rules of this site, it was just a suggestion from someone who sees the type of content that gets posted here on a daily basis. So please accept my apology if you felt like I was spreading misinformation or stepping on your feet, it wasn't my intention...

i think the thread that you cited would be one of the reasons the OP made his thread to begin with...

as far as the policing... thats up to the mods to handle

STOP VIEWING FORUMS AT WORK. if you are really worried :)

or get a job where you do the monitoring....

Oh, I guess I thought that you were a mod, due to your response, sorry...

TBH, I don't like looking at titties on a screen even at home. It's just not very high on my list of things to do. It doesn't bother me, but I work with people whom it may bother.

I do the monitoring. I just don't want to have anyone call me a hypocrite. PhotoBucket and similar sites are already blocked, but it's almost impossible to block all porn on the internets, as hard as bluecoat tries.

I'm really amazed that there's this much discussion about following the damn rules. I guess I should have expected better from a bunch of folks who bragged about "my top speed on the highway is 150mph in my VX"

^^ that was an attempt at humor.

I also remember something about google's ad system, and terms of use. I'll have to brush up on their TOS.

you're absolutely not out of line at all.

the rules should be enforced harder.

the fine line exists between 'risque' and 'ok'.

like the thread nick started today about bored at work.
no nudity, but a chick in a semi-revealing outfit.
google's ok with it.
it's technically safe for work
but at the same time, it might not be appropriate for work.

Werd.

As B said earlier, hit report if you think a post is questionable. It doesnt get the poster in trouble, it just tells us to look at the thread and see if it needs to be cleaned up.

We dont read EVERY SINGLE post on the board, but we do get to most. If we've missed a thread dont hesitate to let us know.

i didn't even think about that one. i just thought since it was a nordstrom ad, it would be ok. but if you think about it, if someone just saw the picture there, they might ask questions.

when in doubt, flag it. if you could get in trouble, keep to work related stuff. it's impossible to monitor the internet 100%. hell, you could google "disney" and there is something there that will offend someone in the world.

I miss all the day time traffic since I get home in the late afternoon or evening. Then I don't read every post. There will always be posts that have nsfw stuff in them that we don't catch for a while, so you will take the risk of this while being at work. We can only do some much.
