The time has come for me to salvage the infiniti and buy something else.

I am turning down the Honda path once again.

Right now there are 2 cars I'm looking at, because that's all that's here in decent shape that I can afford.

Candidate 1: 1995 Civic DX Coupe 5-speed

Dark turquiose color, black interior.
180,000 miles. Drives very strong.
Completely stock body. Has some imperfections.
Driver's side window doesn't roll down or up. Mechanism is jammed. EX doors with glass will be included, but without door panels or switches.
Supposedly has recent maintenance. Haven't seen proof.
Has Greddy header and Evo catback which sounds really good.
Interior is near perfect.

$2800

Candidate 2: 1991 Civic Hatch, Std trim 4-speed

White with unpainted bumpers, blue interior.
167,000ish miles. Haven't driven the car yet.
Completely stock body. No imperfections aside from some stickers.
One CV joint has a slight click, the timing belt will need changed in about 10k miles, and 2 fan settings on the climate control don't work.
Comes with a 1.5" thick folder of papers and receipts.
No mods aside from a board rack.

$1200

Thoughts and opinions? I'm heavily swaying toward the hatch, mainly because it seems like the better deal.

hands down for the hatch

header = beat on...
hatch = well maintained, excellent condition, great on gas, motors are cheap, possible 5 speed swap if tranny blows...

ecu swap and intake swap will get you 20-30 horse without even taking the motor out...

The hatch is def. the better deal.

Regardless of the condition of the motor, i would still get the hatch.

what do you guys think, are 16s with 205/40s too tall for an EF with a wee bit o' lowerin?

i'd pass on both of those....

look out here, fly out, drive it back, and still come out cheaper.

2800 bucks for a fucking dx?
i just sold my del sol with a b16 in it for a little over 3
i just sold my hatch with a gsr swap, tein, 15" wheels with brand new R-comp yoko's, fastbrake 11" willwodds for 4k.

look harder.

look east.

fuck whoreogon

i think that would look good...

.does the AC work on the hatch...thats a big plus i wish my rex had a good AC

my vote goes to the 91 hb

i think a hatch shell with no rust should be worth close to 1K, especially in whoreogon

Fuck you guys (the ones who say to buy out of state). 1200 bucks for a solid running hatch with no rust or body damage is a good deal.

There is NO WAY I could fly east, buy a similar hatch, and drive back, for 1200 dollars. PLUS I'd have to fuck with getting new plates.

B you are a bitter dude. Do you like any state here in the USA?
I agree I don't think 1200 is bad for a hatch with no rust and going back east = RUST

an ef for 1200 bucks... a 4spd std at that?

sorry man... thats a 400-500 car...

I don't care if it's a 500-dollar car where YOU live. Where I live, you're lucky to get anything made by Honda for under a grand.

go to kbb.com its not where i live. its everywhere EXCEPT where you live :p

but whatever.. do what you want.... its your money...

just like i told 200si when he spent about 4-5k too much on his si...

seriously calyton, you need to lay off the Z thing... lol

they're cool and all, but you of all people know that they are far from reliable daily drivers.... they are just too old.

Uhmmmmm....

I don't want a Z for a daily driver. Those cars are 4 hours away from me, and I have no way to tow them back. The stroker might be drivable, but the '71 isn't running and as I said - no way to transport.

EDIT: Not to mention, with that compression I'd need to run premium at worst (probably race gas), and it would get MAYBE 10mpg on the highway. It's a fantastic deal, I just can't afford to go for it right now.

KBB says that private sale value is $1502
