I have a chance to maybe pick up a mazda 323 for my winter/fun vehicle. I know that with the rarity of the vehicle parts wont come cheap, but i just want to know if anyone on here has had any kind of experience with one.

and for those who dont know what a 323 gtx is it is a little hatchback made by mazda in 1988 sporting a 1.6L, spooling on a RHB5 turbo, and running an awd driveline.

and the car

BUY IT RIGHT NOW AND IF YOU DON'T i FUCKING WILL.

Those things are rare as fuck and make the perfect fucking sleepers.

ps. That 1.6L motor is called the B6T.

i know, i was looking for one for a while, i hear there fun to play with in the dirt

too bad we didnt get the GT-R version though

So buy it and cherish that car, 89k miles is a fucking steal.

ps you can buy a 91-96 Escort GT, or a 90-94 Protege and buy a JDM GTX which is a BPT (1.8L motor) that makes 180 hp/180 ft lbs.

corksport

fuckin $1150 for a 1.8L GTX swap. Pretty much unheard of power for the price when comparing it to any Honda motor swap.

yeah, it looks like it could be a lot of fun. the body is kind of rough but ill prolly take a shot at spraying and paint it satin black wiht a satin clear and put on the gt-r front end if everything holds up other than routine maintenance.

also, isnt the bottom end interchangeable with that of the miata?

the 1.6 miata, yes... but if you're going that route you might as well just get new rods and pistons.

true, but if i were to being doing a build and didnt want to have a dead car while i do it, im sure a 1.6 miata block would be easier and cheaper to find than that of the 1.6 out of the GTX.

the only thing is new trannies for these are hella hard to find and for a 16 year old car, that could be a bitch.

the miata block won't fit... it's configured for mounting as a RWD engine, where as the B6T sits transversely like a FWD motor.

hmmm true true

i dunno im gonna have to think about it. the car has some rust and is 3 and a half hours away, but for 2400, or hes even considering taking my truck and 800 bucks, i might not be able to say no.

dude... TAKE IT.

the block is built to take 14 psi on stock internals, gotta love Mazda and their iron blocks and stock forged internals. :worthy:

buy a boost controller for the thing and you'll have tons of fun.

yeah, scc did an article on it and made like 60hp and more tq the hp overall wiht just a boost controller, 2.5 exhaust and an open intake filter.

and it will get me to the slopes just fine this winter!, and maybe ill do some nice snow drifting in the newly paved parking lot at the mountain 3min from my house
:D

Very cool winter beater/rally car! I would take one in a heartbeat....if I had money....and a place to keep it lol.

well negotiations are in the works , we'll see how it turns out. If he takes the trade ill get it.

If you dont take it tell him to email me cause I can't register on there, i will buy that real quick even if I have to borrow more money.

well ill be sure to let you know, by the end of the weekend a deal should be worked out, i have the cash to buy it even if he doesnt take the trade, so we'll see

nice...

corksport can also locate GTRs for you as well, however those motors are extremely rare. It'd be cheaper to buy a GTX and hook a boost controller up to it.

but the bpt is a better platform to get performance out of, like the first gen b16 is inferior to the 00si b16

The JDM GTX and GTR are the same motors....

They're both BP(T) series 1.8L motors.

BP carries the designation as a 1.8 liter and T just means turbo.
