I was watching SPEED and saw a thing about Porsche. Cool, until it got to the part about the 956/962. HOLY SMOKES!!! This thing is crazy. Won the LeMans 1st through 3rd for 4 yrs and never finished under 10 for 12 yrs or so. Also it poses the fastest 0-60 and top speed for a "production" car.

Here are a couple of links:

I think so, I'm usually pretty good at deciphering gibberish but last night 80% of them were unreadable, either that or he speaks French, Does Alberta speak French?

for soem reason, i doubt that was an actual production vehicle. you cant drive that thing on the street... in the f1 atleast you can. plus, the enzo and carrera gt are faster than the f1.

the carrera gt isn't faster than the LM is it? i know they have the same 0-60, but the LM beat it in the 0-100 test... from what i know. :)

mclaren f1 goes 0-100-0 in 11 secs flat. ive never heard of any car beating that

really? any car at all? live in a box?

no i mean its a test that top gear did on the mclaren f1
from 0 - 100 - 0
in 11 seconds.

and by any car i mean production wise, as far as i know they havent had a car beat that time.

its been a while though

0-60 in 2.6 seconds...is dam fast, but for 850,000 dollars, it still not faster then the Lingenfelter Corvette 0-60 1.9 seconds and only cost 165k

But you'd still have to say "I drive a Corvette", and I don't think that's something I can live with. :p

Actually I think most race cars have to have 50 homogelons (sp) that they sell to either privateers to race or as road cars. Like the "road" versions of the Toyota GT1 and Nissan R390. To support my claim, Nissan decided to ditch the Skyline to run the Fairlady Z in the JGTC. However, the Z was so extensively modified, body wise, that the sunctioning body wanted Nissan to sell at least 50 or so of these "Z-Tune, R-Tune something like that" so they can use it in the race. I think they go for like 100,000.
Oh yeah, the Corvette is fast, but can it out corner a LeMans car? Or even last as long? Sure I love Corvettes, but comparing a Corvette to a LeMans car is like comparing a Civic to a Corvette. Yeah, both of them are fast to a certain degree, but I'm sure a fully souped up Vette would dust a souped up Civic.

Looks like the 917......... definately not a production car.....

917

F1 still owns as a production car...bar none.....the Enzo and the carrera are close but are NOT faster than the F1. The only production Porsche that comes close comes from RUF....the Turbo R.
