I'm not sure if I'm an "elite Honda guy" haha...but I would pick the Z6 head any day over the Y8 head. However, there is one thing I must know, what year is your car? If it is OBD2, I would go with the Y8, if you weren't looking for an OBD1 conversion. If it is OBD1, it is a no brainer to go with the Z6 head since it is OBD1 and if your car is OBD0, then heck, take the Z6 head, do a swap to OBD1 and run with it. :D Best of luck on your build. Let us know how it goes.

You'll have to get a P28, make sure it is manual or auto depending on what you have and you will also have to wire your VTEC to your ECU.

Y8 = better quench = capable of higher compression without detonation

The Y8 will get you better compression all you'll need to change is the distributer to a Z6 one. And you wont be able to run more compression on a Y8 head without chance of detonation, higher compression is what causes detonation with lower octane gas.

Y8 also provides higher compression with the head swap, and has the best flowing intake manifold to boot.

Better quench is a design element of the Y8 head that provides detonation resistance on the same grade of fuel, so yes it will allow you to run more compression with less detonation than other heads would.

Z6 head for the win! SWOOSH!

At least you are not going to have to worry about an OBD conversion now. Let us know how everything turns out.

Run a search on Crower and see what comes up. If you don't get the info you need then start your own thread and ask about it. Don't high-jack this guy's thread...
