I'm planning on going sometime in Mid-April for a weekend with my girl. Has anyone ever been? Anything interesting besides gambling?
 
all the time. great times.

good food, shopping mall area, concerts/shows all the time, check their websites.

let us know if you want to meet up. 20 of us are within an hours drive
 
I went there in dec to see Aaron Lewis of staind do a solo acoustic performance...real nice casino..lots to do...If you like dark beer, get the Mohegan Ale
 
the Sky bar is the shit :thumbsup:
 
its a bar upstairs that has a light-show thing with stars and the moon on the ceiling-- planetary style. so they called it the sky bar.

i went to one of those deals during my stint at Ualbany
i think it was mohegan sun but i know there's another one semi close as well

casino's are a real trip
especially if you're in an altered state of mind
a million people everywhere
lights and sounds out the ass
can be a little much even if you're sober

but definately an enjoyable experience...
just set your limits, don;t drink too much, play smart and have a good time

the sky bar sound pretty cool...
just be sure to walk around and take it all in to get the full effect...
 
Just there this past friday. Foxwoods (country's if not worlds largest casino) is close by as well. Mohegan is ranked right behind Foxwoods in size.
 
Moheagan > Foxwoods IMO.

foxwoods may be bigger and actually plays poker for normal people, but overall, mohegan sun is a MUCH nicer casino.
 
i went there a few weeks ago with a few friends and we seen chuck norris. it was my first time so i had no idea what to expect. me only being 20 i still liked it alot. the buffet was like an hour wait so we had no time to go but heard it is awesome. it is really nice, you get in and are like "wow". anoyone see the big fishtanks with sharks and shit?

Mohegan is the largest in the world. Which is why foxwoods is about to start ANOTHER expansion...

Mohegan is MUCH nicer than foxwoods...

The "Sky Bar" AKA "Martini Bar" is called Leffingwells.. It is above the casino floor, overlooking it, with a planetarium (SP) above. It is 2 stories, and they inject oxygen into the air. So you feel GREAT when you sit in there, and it is a VERY relaxing atmosphere. The only downside is that when you walk out of the bar, you get FUCKED UP HARDCORE because the increased oxygen makes the alcohol not react as hard.

I'm about 15-20 mins from either casino... I'll be there in Late March Entertaining some customers (Read: Taking them out to get shitfaced and watch them lose all their money)...
 
IMHO, both of the connecticut casino's look nice and have shopping malls etc... but other than the casino's htemselves there isn't much else to do in the area except to take a drive over to mystic village.

The room rates at both mohegan and foxwoods is $$$ you're looking at $200-375 a night. If you're in driving distance then staying a night or two is probably not to expensive just to go to a casino. but if you're flying here and you're just looking to go to a casino, hell do it right and go to vegas, ahell of a lot more to do than you'll find at either CT casion's even if they are considered the largest.
 
YEM is correct... There isn't much aroudn to do... ESPECIALLY in winter... You will have to get a rental car anyways, unless you are driving here... Because the airports are an hour away.

In the summer there are a few nice golf courses, but not in winter... Mystic Village is nice, but once again... In summer...

Vegas is fun... I just couldn't believe how SMALL the casinos are in comparison... The first casinos I had ever been to were mohegan and foxwoods... So when I got to Vegas, and saw how small most of the casinos were, it was like DAMN.
