When I work out, I listen to music. I was wondering what any of you guys (or gals) listen to when you work out, and then I realized I listen to music when working on the rex, and I wondered again what you guys listen to, and why?

I usually listen to either Chevelle or Lil Wayne when I work out, and sometimes a little bit of Chris Brown. Odd combination, I know, Chevelle gets me pumped and Lil Wayne just flows well I guess, I don't know, and as far as Chris Brown, I don't know where he fits in there.

As far as working on my car, I listen to pretty much anything upbeat and not-depressing music, eg "This vacation's useless, these white pills aren't kind."
It seems like when shit doesn't go right, it's a lot easier to not put my torque wrench through my windshield when I'm listening to something remotely positive and upbeat.

    :)

Well to each his own, and I guess I can't say that I don't ever listen to music that's not depressing, From Autumn to Ashes isn't always the most positive lyric producer, but I love their music

i listen to the offspring a lot when i'm working on the car or in the garage; good energy there. "the kids aren't alright" is pretty much my fave.

i never really got over the first NIN album either, "pretty hate machine." i like working out to that.

i know these aren't new but they're my old standbys.

When my car was running, I'd always play 'Whatever' by Godsmack every time I made a pass down the track, and next season I'll have it on my iPod when I start making passes again. In the shop I listen to Dillinger Escape Plan, Gizmachi, Killswitch Engage, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Lamb of God, etc...heavy shit

I've got a bigass wall-mount stereo hanging in one of my stalls...it's mounted about 10 feet up on the wall, so you can clearly hear it through the shop. The old guys HATE it...lol

B meant that he listens to hardcore stuff.

As for myself, I'm eclectic. I listen to certain rap songs when I work out, like Eminem's Till I Collapse or Soldier or 50's Outta control that mimic the way that I want to be feeling when I work out. The lyrics speak to me and give me motivation.

I also listen to plenty of rock when I'm working out. I grew up basically on the 80's and Rocky Soundtracks while wrestling, so those sort of songs have a nostalgia that cause me to get hyped up and work out harder.

Then there's more modern stuff like Three Doors Down, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Staind, RHCP, etc.

...and when I need to go nuts, I put on whatever the heaviest, loudest thing on my ipod is for the lift and then I quickly turn it off after I'm finished, so it doesn't aggravate the hell out of me.

Then I listen to everything for sheer musical enjoyment. From Chris Brown, to Clapton, to Hendrix, to Saves the Day, to small bands, etc.

I would hate to have to try to classify my music.

I used to be real big into NIN, but haven't heard anything for a couple years.

    The Offspring though, huge fan.

My buddy did a pretty sick remix to this song as far as the beat of it goes. Interested?

I have a ton of singles from different people.

Definitely have 'Kiss Kiss' on the computer. Its sandwiched between Chevelle, CCR, City High, and Collective Soul.

I think its stupid that people only listen to one genre of music. I'm not that one dimensional.

I even have a Rascal Flatts song because it was a song that my ex girlfriend used to tell me she played after we broke up.

I have Peter fucking Gabrielle on my computer. Tupac, Young Jeezy, Bob Dylan, U2.

Taking back sunday, brand new, saves the day, anberlin, armor for sleep, stone sour, foo fighters, nirvana, third eye blind, the who. I could go on and on. :)

you should check out "year zero" - a new NIN album, worth the listen. doesn't have anything on the first one though...that'll always be my fave, though he's rocked some good stuff over the years.

Absolutely everything, but I've always loved classic rock and acoustic renditions. Stuff like Boston and Steve Miller Band will get me more pumped in the gym than the heavier stuff I listen to like Lamb of God and Devildriver. I always wonder what other people would think if they knew I was listening to an acoustic rendition of 'Castles Made of Sand' while I'm benching or something.
I'm a huge fan of Offspring as well.
