Went up for the sunrise drive. Navigating that road in the dark was nerve racking.

epic views though.

at 6800' and change, its amazing how much the air owns you. 8 flights of stairs and i was dead, and i had a real hard time recovering. i had to sit down for like 15 min to catch my breath. its pretty nuts.

fuck Everest. i'd die at base camp.

Anyway, what you came to see, was pics.

This was a sunrise trip. we drove up at 11pm, got there around 430am and summitted just before 6 am.

Genny did well. didn't need to use any of the 'brake cool off pull overs'. left it in 2nd most the way down, first in a few hard areas and just pump the brakes lightly.

vans and stuff were all smoking and smoldering.

At the bottom though (8 miles) she was ticking like mad. oil starvation from going down so steep for so long.
i pulled it into a spot with the nose up and it cleared it self up in a few minuets. Was scary though.

The g/f took most of the pics as i was driving of the road itself, but here's some of the views and the way up. She's still trying to edit out as she took like 399 pics. lol

Awesome. I planned on doing that out in Colorado on a night expecting a meteor shower but it fell through. :\

2003: "We stayed up all night drinking beer and tearing this ten-year-old Honda into bajillions of pieces, check out the pics!"

2013: "We woke up at 4am and drove our year-old grown-up car up a mountain to watch the sunrise, check out the pics!"

Sick pics, watching the sunrise from the top of a mountain is freaking AWESOME. At Pike's Peak last year, we got to be up top for a cloudless sunrise, a storm rolling in, and all kinds of awesome weather conditions that looked amazing.

Something awesome that ANY of you guys should try one day is riding a motorcycle to the top of a mountain like that and coasting down with the engine off. Freaking AMAZING to whiz down a mountain with absolutely NO sound other than the wind and wildlife.
