so living here in colorado, sometimes your honda civic doesnt cut it

after living around my two brothers who between them have a Evo 8, 2 jeeps, a WRX sti, Solara and a Accord, ive decided to undertake my own "more powerful" project.... a Impreza conversion.

I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to honda swaps, but ive participated in numerous swaps in mitsubishis and subarus. (my bro who has the wrx literally cannot decide on what type of boost he wants...hes been literally through like 9 different kits....)

    Parts (so far)

1998 Subaru Impreza 2 door coupe manual (only nonstock thing is the CF scoop hood)
    JDM EJ20t WRX Sti 6 speed full engine swap( DOHC 4 Cyl Turbo 280 HP @ 6500, 260 LBs Torque @ 4000, 27,000 Miles)
C Speed Bodykit (similar to the civic buddy club style ones)
GTS Spoiler (very similar to the stock/evo one)

over the next 2 months, i'll post pics as i convert this imprezza into a WRX.

I'm thinking of getting a license plate that says "RCRKLLA"

thoughts, tacky? then again, you cant really call this car rice...its got the performance and 4wd XD, and id gladly take on those dodge neons (put them in their place)

oh trust me, its fine, but its nothing like driving a real power car

i actually have the same exact car as you civic wise except its LX (already bodykitted, soon to be engine swapped)

Can you define a "real power car"?

The reason your Civic isn't a "real power car" is because its an LX, and it has the stock engine.

When I lived in Colorado I had the CRX for the good weather and a 4Runner for the snow. Everyone has a 4Runner out there, they hand them out at the border.

well its not so much that the civic is bad...it isnt by any stretch, but it pales in comparison to the other cars that i normally drive/have driven in the mountains

i know its way far in advance, but what kind of paint job do you guys would think would look good on this?

i was thinking 1 tone with something unique as an element?

Ha ha true a lot of people have 4 runners out here but not everyone my family has a legacy, mountaineer, camry, trans am, and a civic lol. The camry is my bad weather car. lol But as for the color I would say something like a dark green. Don't know about you guys but I hardly see green imprezas if you can find it the green from the 97 Legacy would look pretty good if it was a bit darker.

If I had to do it , I would go the toyota truck route. I used to spend a lot of time in the mountains.

When I came back to CT the 4Runner was way too goddam much. I wish the people around here would come to grips with that when they buy SUVs.

    nah theyre just freaking ugly

i have more devious purposes than just "mountain driving" for this car.

hint...look at the horsepower to weight ratio and 0-60 time XD.

furthermore i could just drive one of those raied offroading jeeps :), but i have a vendetta against SUVS

The older 2-door Impreza's are decently quick with STI swaps...I ran one on the freeway about a year ago in my CRX before it was on the bottle, the guy was almost able to keep up with me.

Depending on the year and whether its an RS or not, they can be damn quick with the swap.

An impreza L with a STi swap should run low 12's on the stock turbo, throw on something bigger and you're in the 11's.

With an EJ20 swap, the L should crack into the 12's, and again if you throw on a bigger turbo you'll be posting much faster times.

RS's are a bit heavier, but the L weighs nothing in comparison to the ~3400lb STi.

NE in no place for offroaders. Offroading is illegal, ergo, there should not be ONE SUV in this state.

There is no where to take them. It's purely image. I got kicked out of so many parks when I came back here, I was known around the place. Then they put up concrete blocks to keep trucks out, which was ridiculous - I didn't even 4wd to crawl over them.

the First gen 4runner is automotive perfection.

So all cars that have a decent amount of horsepower are automatically immune to being riced out? Making a slow car look fast without actually making it fast is one "method" of ricing, but it's not the only method...

Is your car a Lamborghini? If the answer's no, and it's not a show car, then yeah, I'd say doing Lambo doors is kind of ricey. What's the average cost for Lambo doors? $1,000 maybe? I'd rather put that into an engine build personally...

Why are you asking us though? It's your project car, do what you want with it. You can put hover pods and rocket launchers on it for all I care...
