ok, im getting pop ups like a mother fucker.

ran adaware.
ran spycop.
went through ad/remove programs, delted all unnecessary shit or things that may have come with adware support...
ran norton av.
re-installed all IE6.1 w/ SP1 components

WTF else is there that will find something that all the above won't?
 
have you checked your adaware for updates ... they update it about every day
 
system mechanic,great program,I forget who makes it and I dont have it installed at the moment...but be careful you dont delete something you need
 
I was using the free popup stopper from the iwon.com site pretty well. Otherwise, from another forum, someone was complaining about hijacked homepages, so I went over to www.tomcoyote.org and downloaded HijackThis! and followed the forum instructions. My computer runs faster down. But that site seems very saavy about viruses and shit like that... read their forums.

i just cna't figure out where its coming from

i use Crazy Browser Instead of IE and i never get pop-ups, it has a built in pop up killer and schtuff..
 
B, your supposed to be a computer nerd like me.

sounds to me like a browser hijack they are a bitch to get rid of.
I'd do a search of your local hard disc's for any files created in the past 2 days or so, look for folders that you don't remeber creating etc..
 
guys- this is not pop ups from webpages...

there's something on my machine. hondaswap induces abotu 35 pop ops on exit... lol
 
I had this same problem about a week ago. I just gave up and did a reformat. Have you tried system rollback yet? If your hard drive is partitioned then you can reformate without losing files. thats what i did and got my comp up and running back to normal in about 4hrs.
 
I only get pop ups when I visit hondaswap and its about 2 or 3. Not too many. Only site I get them on.

I'm running just IE6, and that's it.
 
2 or 3? should be 1 per 24 hours :(

if you guys clicked google ads 1 time a day, i could afford to turn off the pop under :(

30,000 page views a day, lucky to see 75-100 ad clicks :(

HiJack This = amazing program. it will find everything. if you don't understand what it debugs post it on the forums and ppl will help u there
 
any consolidation...I've been fighting the same battle for weeks.....

If I find the geek or the company that actually develops these friggen mini-programs that makes the internet not a fun place to be....(/enter empty threat here).....that and those damn E-mail spam'ers.....
