1983 Chevy Malibu wagon. 3.8 V6, TH350 and longer gears then the motor has power use. Bought it with just under 95k on the clock. Paid what its worth, ended up being a fair deal on both ends.

In the first pics, it had '67 Chevelle caps on it. Those got stolen so the previous owner put the factory caps back on it. Im lookin for another set though.

First thing I do will be swap an LM7 5.3 liter in to it. Plan is to leave the motor 100% stock with stock GM truck intake and accessories, just modidify the wiring harness as needed. Gunna bolt it in to the factory drive train. After that, maybe a new suspension setup with some rallies and disc brake centers. Not much else, just wanna drive this thing lol.

I like it. I'd say swap the motor then leave it alone, but hey, it's not my car.

    No. This...

Ya, thats why Im goin with a fuel injected small block, make it drive like its stock but still have the extra power. If I do change the suspension out, I really wanna bring the front down another inch or so.

Id take a stock 5.3 over a mild 350. MPG ftw. I've been considering just finally swapping one in my 91 Camaro and getting it back on the road over buying another car/truck. But due to time constraints the Camaro remains on hold.:(

What does it cost to get the lsx truck motors up and running into an old car like this?

I like it, its cool that its a wagon. Im with you on the 5.3 liter if its really going to be a daily driver, but if it was my car id be seriously looking at building a LSx swap. That clean body would be a great candidate for a sleeper 500hp beast.

Werd. The motor is the biggest variable. Drop outs go for anywhere from 500 to 1500. Also depends on the platform too. For my swap, Im aiming to come in under 2k. And thats for a motor with less then 100k.

Not to thread jack (I'll tie it in to your topic), but I was hoping to at least swap an LS1 in the Camaro but may be limited to a 5.3 for budgets sake. There are so many companies that make parts to ease the swap but it all adds up. And I'm so far out of the loop these days I need to start over on research. At least third gen f bodies are so popular to swap in.

(tie in) But they make the parts for so many chassis' they can be put in just about anything without major self fabrication. You gonna throw a 4L60/85 behind it or adapt for the TH350?

The truck versions are always cheaper, and capable of making power all the same. The little bit of weight savings arent worth the extra cost, IMO.

Ill be using my TH350. Cost to adapt new motor to old transmission, 85 bucks. Cant beat that. And itll save me the cost of a new transmission crossmember.
