My Speedometer likes to 'jump'

My 94 Civic has the tendancy to 'jump' from like 30mph to 50mph then back down to 10mph just kinda flips out. It does it while driving and while sitting in park. Is there something I can reset or a fuse that needs to be replaced. I buddy of mine has the same problem in his standard but its less common for him. Thanks.

I had the same problem in my auto ford taurus. Hope for the best, but expect the worse.

Possible problems: bad gauge, bad vss sensor, bad speed cable, other electrical issue

I replaced my speedo gauge with one from a junkyard and I was good to go.
