Well im thinking about getting out of the Honda game. when i started back in high school on this site i searched and asked on how to make a civic fast. ended up going with the advice to open the wallet and it was like i couldnt close it. stock 94 civic coupe went to a JDM B18C, then fully built bottom end with turbo, tuned by InlinePro yada yada. now im thinking about selling and dont know how to price it. i have receipts for every dime that went into the car and it is on a spreadsheet. Talk about a money pit! i know im not going to get what i put in it but i dont want to give it away and ill just keep it if i cant get a half of what i put in it. dont want to part out because it would take longer and why take something apart that works great. i was thinking possibly taking the cost of engine build and adding half of all the rest total cost? everything was done right and driven with no major issues for the last 4 years. what to do?

what you have invested, cut in half. then get lowballed.

you would make more parting it out.

Only way to come close to getting anything worth while is to find someone willing to trade something for yours.

Here's the problem with modded civics, they're worth nothing so you can't get a loan, asking for more money then the car is worth will never happen. Only people that can buy your car for a legit price would be older people. Guess what? Not a single older person will want it.

Older people with money would rather buy a shell land build it correct from the ground up.
Younger people cant get a loan for more then the car is worth, IF they can even get a loan in the first place.

    Only real option is trades...

You will come much closer to your perceived value by parting it out. If you don't/won't part it out, prepare to lose your shirt.

Exactly what i was thinking. everyone starts off with a honda cause they are cheap and there are a million parts for them...when its time for them to go no one wants a finished project, when its finished it isnt cheap anymore.

and if it is finished, its not the way you want it to be so then it becomes a project AGAIN

this guy pretty much has the idea. My mom just sold her BMW 528i, $40k off the dealership. Even though it was in perfect condition, the only problem being that it had 150k miles on it, she offered $5.5k on it an it sold for $5k.

It really sucks how little used cars will go for, but I guess thats life, and life sucks. The only good anyone gets out of it is the buyer, who just got an awesome car for a steal.

Good Luck, hope you get what you ask for your car.

the basic idea with this and what i have seen work is take blue book value of car. and take 20% of what you put into it. or atleast make that your settling price. or just put it up for trade.

No, lots of kids want finished projects, they just can't buy it since they don't have the money and getting a loan can't happen, people who do have money have zero desire to own a honda.

and you could just tell us what you have in the car, then what you paid in labor separately. like i said, labor is lost money once you pay it. thats something you never get back. its like people who add in regular maintenance saying that they have invested that money into the car, doesnt work that way.

yeah i agree totally with not including the labor i just copied from my spreadsheet. i should have left shipping for everything too. agreed with you on the blue neons and the fenders. TYC headlight i dont think they are total trash since you can see better than stock. and for the JDM foglight switch... its actually both the fog and REAR Defrost switch and it only cost me one of Obama's stimuls checks haha most of the exterior was done in high school, young and dumb, i had a body kit, 17s, and a sweet blue stripe on the side. too bad that is paint and its still on there. tired of it for sure. first pic i posted on here i was flamed with no end haha

no matter what, everyone is going to receive flame. why? "because everyone else owns shit, and mine is always perfect." the end.

because im not a douchebag. i drive a huge pos of an integra. not too bad, but i hate it.

there was zero fucking flaming in my last post.
i was telling him that those parts on the car will do nothing but bad for him and would be worthless to try to sell them.
he is asking for advice. dont want to see negative comments made, dont read advice threads.

Inline pro has always half assed builds.

Maybe they've changed since I was into the honda stuff (had a sleeved motor in my car) but back in the day their idea of a good build was removing the head, installing a block guard and putting the head back on, at one point everyone of their cars listed on their site (that ran great times btw) had block guards.

    no thank you.
