First, compression test the motor and make sure it's in good enough shape to be modding. If it is, then I'd say start assembling a turbo kit. If you're patient and you shop around you might be able to assemble a decent kit for that amount of money...

Im a motor guy and i think you can obtain as much hp with a good piston set light flywheel valves springs cams and some injectors as with a turbo with -weight instead of +weight.
Now stay below 11.5 compression and too crazy cam angle.
also be sure to tune that but turbo is always fun.

all above are right in their own ways ,first make sure it strong enough to mod before spending any money , then decide what power level you want . you could build a budget turbo kit , you could rebuild for high comp and tune for na power . whats your honest goal power wise ?

well if it has 150,000 buy a jdm longblock and buy header intake exhaust and the you can go from there. youll have a motor that has low miles. it wont be much quicker but more reliable

I do agree with this to some degree. I mean if you said you got about $2,300 saved up, your pretty much going to blow all that savings and more on just pistons, rods, bearing, headgasket, camshafts, springs and retainer. Its not evening including finding a reputable shop to put it all together.

I start with the basics you know intake, header, exhaust and see how u like it. I mean if thats not enough then you should start to do some research and study on what you want after that point. Talk to people who already took the route you want or thinking about so you can have some idea of what kind of project you are looking at and the headaces that come with them.

Besides, God doesn't "take care of you stuff". He helps those who help themselves. Jesus, I'm not even Christian. Atheist ftw.
