Hey everyone, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 91 accord ex that the owner apparently swapped a newer f22a4 into. The engine still has little chips of a coating he said came on the engine when it was shipped from japan and I was just wondering what the coating is. Its a clear kind of plasticky film that seems to be slowly coming off, like some kind of a temporary finish clearcoat. Anyway I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!

some importers ship the engines coated in some sort of glaze or something
makes the whole engine look all shiny and new
not sure what you can do about taking it off
perhaps some type of cleaner like simple green or an engine cleaner
