New head gasket?

my friend just put a new head gasket on his d16, and said it gave him a big boost in power? is this common or was his just shot? would a new head gasket give my b18a a little more power? the head gasket right now is stock

he probably put a thinner head gasket on .. .which bumped his compression a tiny bit... which in theory gives a little more power.

either that or his gasket was fried and putting on a new one fixed his compression back to normal...do a leakdown test before you mess w/your head gasket if your compression is ok then a thinner headgasket wont feel much stronger espically given the work you put in it[not killer but is involved] if you dont have a prob dont fix it spend your cash elsewhere
