new head = idle issue

    so i have a 95 sol 98k mi just replaced the head(hg and all other seals for vc and studs) timing belt water pump alt belt and ps belt. timing marks lined up everything at TDC starts good sits at 1200-1500rpm but after a few min it will drop to 800 ok. but if u rev it up it will bog out and die and the next start up it runs 500rpm and smells bad.
    no codes no weird noises i do have an exhaust leak but it ran b4 with it. any thoughts on where to look. ran old gas until gas light can on filled 1.5g with fresh gas and its idled for about 20min tops and a trip around the block. any help woould be great

    sounds like a vac leak.... intake/tb gasket?

    whats that stuff i can spray around to find a leak? starter fluid? makes it bog wen it gets in? is that right or am i thinkin of something else?

    intake was changed with the rest. the kit came with two i only used one cuz i think the other was for a dif obd? or model? tb i think its still stock was fine b4 head job

    Its possible you have a leak around your intake manifold. Are you sure you removed all the old gasket material off the head before putting the new on?

    carb cleaner is what you spray to find a vacuum leak..

    so i sprayed IM TB every hose that connected to VC and IM and nothing so look in the car after reving it and it almost dying and now i have a code 10 IAT Sensor. now whitch one is that where is it loccated and can i us a used one are they modle/obd specific? thanks for te help

    Depending on the the engine... the IAT sensor is located on the #1 runner on the intake manifold. it could be on the side of the manifold or on the back.

    hhmmm none of those look right. its an auto if that would change anything #2/3 look the most correct but i dunno. this is the same plug as the iac? cuz if so mine is def on the back cuz i have three of the same plugs back there 1 is for the iac the other i dont remeber and one on the back of IM. is the sensor interchangable? does obd matter i have an obd0 manifold can i use that one? also have a z6 mani and a y7 thanks for the pics

    but do u or any one know if they are interchangeable? n if a used one will work(if good) or is it a have to be new situation.

    Double check the sensor and plug. Pull the sensor clean it off. I've never had a CEL 10 so I've never had to replace one. If I were in a situation where I had to, I would try a used one first before buying new.

    ok well tomarro after work i will be taking the one off a d16a1? mani and hoping they do not go by obd and hope for the best if not ill have to wait a few days til i can pick up the z6
