My shop is the exception to the rule, as we use built-in top of the line Lista tool cabinets. Techs can bring in their own box as long as its red, and you can't fit all your tools into the cabinets in your bay. Each bay has 38 drawers and 3 roll-up cabinets. The only guys in the shop that need another box is our head Porsche tech, and the Audi shop foreman.
The biggest thing in tools is that you need to mix and match when it comes to tools, i.e, don't buy $4079868764 worth of ALL Snap-On, Matco or MAC stuff. I see guys with Craftsman sockets, Snapon ratchets, SK wrenches and Matco screwdrivers.
We also have "the negotiator". A case hardened steel 4 1/2' breaker bar by MAC.
