No Idea what I'm doing

Ok heres my deal. I have a 97 honda civic and I have no idea what type of engine I wanna drop in. I've heard several people say drop in a ls/vtec. I have no idea what that consits of. I also have a limited amount of money and would really like to stay on the cheap side. If ANYONE has any suggestions on what type of engine I should drop in it or any type of comments please let me know. I'm a newbie at this stuff and any help would be great.

well first off you posted in the wrong place...MODS...do your thing.

second, in order to correctly help you out and give suggestions we all need to know a few things about your car and your intentions.

what have you done to your car already?
what are you going to be doing with your car(drag racing, autox, road racing, or just a plain street car)?
what kind of performace are you trying to get out of the car?
what is your budget?

also, include any additional information that you feel we might need.
