no job soon

so I went to work today and was looking at a hell of a day (end of the quarter), and when I walked in the door about 50 people were leaving. I didnt know what was going on and there was a note on my computer from my boss. So I had to go to this meeting and well the computer plant I work for is being shut down. its going to take 6 to 12 months to completely close. so today I had to work cause end of the quarter, but I get double pay today and tomorrow the plant is closed and I get paid for that. then on I get to come in every day untill I am no longer needed, so tomorrow I am going job hunting. it sucks but I figure maybe its a sign and hope I get a better job.

damn that sucks dude. I remember when i was down and out. I finally hooked up with an old boss and got a job with him. He's payin me 11hr and right now we're building a barn for his friend who OWNS remax realty. In a month we going to N.C to finish a house. So all in all it gets better. I was really down and out really depressed( didn't work for a month straight!). But remember IT WILL GET BETTER.

i'm willing to bet your job is going overseas...

same shit happened to the "schrade" knife factory near me... people spent 10-20-30+ years there... then one day they had a meeting in the morning, cops were there, they said we're closed as of NOW.. and the cops escorted everyone out, they coudln't even get their family photos, calendars etc from their work areas...

then someone came in and bought out the whole line of knives and patents, some materials and some machines, and it was all being sent overseas...

i went to the auctions at the place when they were liquidating everything that was left... it was pretty sad, but i did get to grab the personal effects for my friends dad that worked there for almost 30 years...

Yeah that sucks man. I managed this arcade here and I loved it. Then the DM came in and said "Yeah we're closing this store." So all of a sudden I was out of my favorite job ever. Well after that I didn't know what to do. I decided to pursue my boxing hobby. I had a lot of success there and was thinking of going pro. Then I weighed the likelihood of being a successful boxer as opposed to getting a degree. I chose the degree. So basically at the age of 16 I was pretty sure I was going to be a professional criminal, then I met a good family and straightened out, then I was just plodding along in a dead end job, then I was going to try and be a professional boxer and now I'm a Pre-Pharmacy/Bio Chemistry major trying to get accepted into the Iowa Pharmacy program. It's just funny the different directions your life can take ya know?? If I hadn't lost that job at the Arcade I would probably still be working there, a fucking lifer. So anyway my point is.... I'm sorry you're gonna lose your job but keep your chin up. Maybe this will open up your eyes and force you to look at different possible paths for your life. Pursue your interests mang!!

Sucks dude,

Back in Sept 2003...We were informed that our company sold our rights to renew Workers Comp Policy's to Travelers ...We have been in transition ever since then...its only a matter of time till we all will be gone....Do you atleast get Severance Pay? I am atleast getting 20 weeks pay when i am laid off in lump sum....

Our Company has several sites overseas, corporate office is in Toronto, but A lot of our equipment has already been shipped to Mexico, and today I came in and lot of people are gone today also, so I am here today to get online are start my job search.

Ugh, I might be joining the scumbags in the unemployment line, soon...BUT, if I do get laid off, I get about 6k in severance, stocks are vested, etc. I will be fine for a while if I do get laid off...I'm almost hoping that happens, lol.

I am thinking about looking at different states for jobs, Colorado seems to be getting weak on Jobs. everyone is moving to colorado or to many imigrants, so my search continues.
