noise from disitributor

I notice this noise more often when the vehicle is warm, after a few deliveries and only at certain angles, but my distributor makes a tapping noise. something like plastic tapping metal or plastic tapping plastic. I just replaced the cap recently and it has made the noise before and after that change. I guessed it has something to do with the rotor, but not sure.

look inside the cap and see if there is any signs that the rotor could possibly be hitting the inside of the cap?

all I see on the inside of the cap are the usual scorch marks. It's odd because the noise the distributor makes is loud enough to hear from about 20 ft away.
