I hate to ask questions that have probably been beat to death, but I can't seem to find the answers in my searches. So, here we go...

I've got a 2000 civic ex that I'm trying to drop a B18c into. I ordered the engine from Hmotorsonline.com as a full swap engine. Supposedly all I need to do is transfer the wiring harness from the D16Y8 to the B18C. Here's where my questions begin.

First off, I already have the rywire OBDIIb-OBDIIa conversion harness. I, also, just ordered the 8-10 pin distributor conversion.

I've still got a couple wire that I don't know what to do with though.

    1. D16Y8 VTEC pressure switch??

I'm not sure if that's what the following connector is, but I don't know where the corresponding plug goes on the B18C. It's the green plug wrapped in blue painter's tape. Any ideas?

    2. On the B18C

I think this is some sort of vacuum operated component for the intake manifold. It's got a 2 wire connector pictured below. Does anyone know what to do with this?

You can better see where it's located in this pic

Here's the vacuum portion of the assembly

Other than these items, is there any other work I need to do with the harness to get it to work correctly on the B18C?

Thanks, in advance, for the patience and help!

I have read that JDM B18C doesn't have a VTEC oil pressure switch. There are threads about the conversion options.

The plug under the manifold is the butterflies in the IM can't remember what its called but there are thread on it too. You car doesn't have them its a B18C1 and H22 thing.

You need to use your D16Y8 engine harness b/c your civic harness is one piece. You may need to lengthen a few lines though.

    cafrog,

Thanks for the info... I'll search for vtec oil pressure switch and butterflies.

If anyone else can link me up to a good thread, I'll appreciate it, though!

I think so....it shoudl be covered with the OBD2a ECU and the jumper harness you have.

I dont see why you can't run a USDM B series VTEC solenoid assembly (if you wanted to go that route) and then it would just plug up. But I think you would need to run an USDM ECU either P72 or chipped (At least this is my theory)

    Yeah, according to this diagram
    http://www.phearable.net/tech/wiring/wiring.99-01_2.jpg

The B connector, second row, third pin from the right, controls he IAB on an Integra. I believe that the civic should be empty in that location. That being said this diagram says that #26 controls IAB on the integra ecu.

    http://www.phearable.net/tech/wiring/obd2a.pin.schematics.gif

Looking at the rywire harness, pin 26 on the integra ecu is jumpered to the B connector, second row, third pin from the right on the civic side of the harness. SO... does that mean that I'm all set up for wiring this thing... and somehow that information will be transmitted through the stock civic OBD 2b harness?

    I think so, but I'm not 100%

I just got done tracing the VTEC pressure switch wires along the rywire adapter harness and everything adds up.(15 on connector "C" on the integra ecu to 10 on connector "C" on the civic harness) So the only question that remains is... where's the connector on the B18C engine itself??

So, after some research, I've learned that I do not need to do anything to the VTEC pressure switch. I'll just leave that alone.

My only question is, where to I attach the wires for the IAB to? I'll cut them off the GSR harness, but where do they attach to on the civic harness?

I know someone out there has done this before. Any help would be appreciated!!

The link I pasted for you has the spot for IAB's at the ECU. You just run wire off the solenoid, through the firewall, and to the spot given to you in the link. Get some 'donor' pins from a junkyard/recycler so you can place them in the empty spot on the conversion harness where it connects to the ECU (or does you harness have wires come out for it already?)

Donor pins from the Junkyard! That's the info I needed, thanks! I already cut off the connector and soldered on extension wires... I just couldn't figure out how to insert them into the harness without the crimp connectors. I was searching the net for them and never thought of the junkyard for some reason.

Wiring harness is done and transferred over to the b18c. Thanks a lot CAFROG. I'm done with the urethane mount inserts as well, and am transferring over the various hoses and lines.

    Here's my next question...

Can I use the civic fuel line for the motor? The fittings look different and I'm not quite sure how the transfer goes. If anyone's had experience, it would save me a lot of time if you could post up!

    Thanks

The engine's in and running great. Ended up cutting the fittings off the civic fuel line and making a new one with one civic fitting and one integra fitting. Seems to be working really well. Thanks for all of the help, cafrog.
