I have expensive tastes...thats why.

Most of this stuff is labor free. Working with an engine shop really rocks.

The first part of the list is at employee cost, which is why most of the prices are so low. The rest of it, i have to get else where. If you know where to get new parts cheaper, id definitely like to hear about it.

The personal loan has already been approved for 10,000 for 3 years at 5.9%. I just have to get the quotes.

Im planning on keeping the laptop with me so i can just modify the program with Crome/Ostrich. Its in my car most of the time, so that is not a problem at all.

This is only engine modification, nothing else. I know im gonna get a couple Gs back from Tim, but the rest will have to come from my day job and from friday/saturday nights.

Its around $325 a month for the prelude race car of my dreams. God help me. The insurance is only 220...i thought it was gonna be a lot higher for full custom coverage.

geico...but im kinda cheating...shh. Mom is registered on the car, and is primary driver. she has a perfect driving record

let me get this straight ur getting ready to take out a loan for 10g's to turbo ur car?

Not that I approve of it but its smarter than most idiots that throw it all on a credit card and then make minimum payments for the rest of their lives and wind up paying like 50k for 10k.

quaife is too much, keep looking because I have seen them on h-t for less.

the turbo could be replaced with a holset hx35 with a t3 turbine housing or just keeping the twin scroll for $200 bucks or so...
you could make your downpipe for less than a hundred
instead of a cast mani, you could get a short tubular one made by hotrex(ccfab) for under 300 mostlikely
make your own intercooler piping for about a hundred
and dont use a delta creeper, at least get a tial for that price

edit: and taking a loan out to turbo your car is a stupid idea... aftermarket parts arent an investment you'd be lucky to get half of it back when you sell it

seriously. if you take out a loan to mod a car, you're a finacial idiot.

seriously. don't do it. its so not worth it.

if you can't afford to put it together with your spare cash, don't do it at all.

and 220 a month is NOT cheap for insurance.

i pay 112 a month for full coverage on my sti.

Well i can definitely do the first part out of spare cash. itd only take me 3 months to work together 3 grand. The other 7 or so would just test my resolve.

As for the turbo, that is probably the last thing i am going to buy. I do not know if the T67 is the final word yet. The exhaust manifold is more of a longevity choice. I didnt want a tubular manifold because i want to do as little rebuilding as possible. The Tial wastegate is definitely a choice, i know i can just get a new flange and put a 40mm or better WG on there, and that is probably what i am gonna do, that isnt the final word in the build.

I can weld my own intercooler piping, but its just not something i would be comfortable with. Dont get me wrong, i trust my welding skills, it would just take me 3 months to finish that kind of welding task.

I havent gotten the check in hand yet, but im pretty sure i am going to do this. Is there any more input besides the fact that im friggin insane?

220 is what i pay, but i have a shitty driving record, which is going to get about $100 cheaper/mo in the next year.

loans should be used for homes, starting a business, or paying for school not for fixing up your ride.

This could hurt you really bad down the line, do it off the cash you make from your job, it will just take about 3 years but so fucking what!

The LSD sounds like a lot im shure you can find someone modacar is very pricey here just did a quick search http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/quaife.htm this is for 899

bout 500 HP at the track 300-350 DD.

Gotta get Tim Allen Motor Sports on the map in Import Tuning. This Nitrous system is gonna be set on a window switch just to help the turbo spool at the track.

Not worth it. Rather than a loan bank the cash till you have 10G in the bank then see if you want to dump it all into your car? 10g is less than i have seen spent on a mortor but most people think back and shake their heads

im with brian on this one. ive worked on ppls cars that do loans for me to work on it. i feel super bad for them.

and 500hp?? haha you gonna spend 6 grand more to make your suspension and chassis handle that power and use it effeciently. did ya take into account what happens when your 500 hp motor, blows a ring and your whole block has to be re bored and rebuilt.

500hp, its been done before, but i mean.. what are you gonna do, get on a track and try and beat the BAR Honda Car..

whichever route you choose, best of luck with it anyways!

well i work with the guys at an engine shop and it feels like i rebuild an LS1 every weeked (possibly cause we do)

Im doin it to shut a few guys up, and believe me i know what kinda position im going to be in after the engine is done. Thats what im worried about. i cant even take it to the track until the roll cage is done.

if you know what you're doing, there is no reason why you can't leave the line fully spooled at 15psi the second you dump the clutch.

you don't need nitrous to do this.

you need a good tuner who knows how to work a 3-step.

so, here's what you need:
a beater. yes, this car will be worthless 98% of the time. no matter what you say, you're going to have serious downtime building, after driving, and when things break, which they will.

and i really suggest you re-think you're motives.... taking a loan out to shut people up is very stupid.
cuz once you do, and they beat you, all they'll do is say "well, if i dumped 10 grand into my car, id smoke you too"

it never ends.

and there's no good reason to go into debt over it.

i wish i never built that del sol.
worst financial decision of my life.

save for a house. you're young. you're at the perfect age. if you bank 20-30k over the next few yers, the rest of your life will be SO much easier.

yeah, i am kinda back where i started. all motor and the occassional nitrous fill.

and they have dumped 10k into their engine..sometimes more.

its always the guy with more money.... you can't race wallets
