I knew he could speak the moment he botched the inauguration. I really don't care if Chief Justice Roberts fumbled a little if Obama where the next JFK of speaking he wouldn't have noticed. Just gone about his business.

Everyone still thinks hes the messiah, hell he could read off of cue cards and people wouldn't care.

They really should replace "hail to the chief" with "cult of personality" by living colour.

first of all the teleprompter IS basically cue cards (albeit higher tech than simply writing on a card with marker)
second, 'cult of personality' is a good fucking song and i wouldnt want to see it soiled by association with this assbag of a president

With the way things are right now (economy, etc), and Bush coming off the stand (somewhat famous for his speech blunders) Obama has to say everything exactly right. Presidents have been using teleprompters since they were invented. Sure, using one at a county fair is a bit odd, but with the entire world watching and waiting for a fuck up of some sort, there is nothing wrong with a prompter.

A good speaker is just that: A good speaker. NOT to be confused with a good leader. Although the ability to move a crowd with speech is a great thing, that isn't all there is to it. I would rather a bumbling idiot of a speaker and an amazing leader than vise versa.

I would actually prefer a prompter over just "winging it". I don't know how many speeches I did where I forgot a key point or two.. Things that were important to the speech just got flat out skipped over. At least this way we are sure to get the message the way it was meant to be conveyed.

Clinton used teleprompters I believe, and he's regarded to be one of the best orators of our time. At that, that's reviewed and decided by professionals. Not internet ninja's.

Look up some of his outtakes.. And also look up how he talks to reporters when he gets off stage. He's an asshole to the extreme.

E, I'd like to see you memorize an entire 20 minute to 2 hour speech. Because someone uses teleprompters for speeches he writes that makes him any less of a person? lol

ive had to memorize speeches for classes before... but i often couldnt read it entirely off of a cue card... though sometimes i was allowed to have a single note card with me that i could put key points on... and i admit i am not good at it... i dont like public speaking... but also im not a politician... giving speeches is not my job... hell its not even a key part of my job...
i have no issue with someone using a teleprompter for a very long or very important speech... but when you use it for EVERY DAMN THING YOU SAY it kind of cheapens what you are saying... especially when someone is praised for being such an amazing orator... reading off of a teleprompter well does not make you an amazing orator... when he speaks without a teleprompter he stutters and stumbles all over his words and sounds like an idiot "uh er umm well i uhh umm err i mean uhh the umm you see err i mean umm well..." not really all that amazing... he can deliver a prewritten and rehearsed speech well, i will give him that...
but when you cant even answer questions without going back to your prewritten answers that you read off of the teleprompter, you are little more than an actor...
he is an empty suit... a puppet... a face and mouthpiece for the socialist machine that controls him

    JFK was an amazing orator
    Clinton was an amazing orator
both were able to move the masses and were smooth and well spoken regardless of whether they were reading a speech, or flying solo witout a net
Obama is a good reader... thats about it

it wouldnt shock me if he goes to the teleprompter when a waiter asks him what he would like to order for dinner

    I think that

    E addressed

    the point uh

    well.

This is how the man talks. When you are speaking a pause every three words to me conveys that you are not sure what you are talking about or how to convey that point.
