ok so my b16 has obd1 and im getting a check engine light for vss code 17 what fixes that do i have to run a wire from my cluster to the ecu? my speed sensor is run by cable are there any electrical connections any way on the trans for vss?
 
there is a unit built into the cluster that converts the mechanical movement of the cable into an electronic pulse that is then sent out to the ecu. so either that wire was severed somehow, or that unit in the cluster has failed. if the speedometer and odomenter still work then that's what i would put my money on.
