Just picked up a 98 hatch. The harness is all hacked up. So I'm just going to replace it. The car has a B-18C with an OBD1 computer(chipped P-06) and distributor(TD68U).I'm trying not to use any adapters so If I run an OBD1 harness will I still be able to use the OBD2 diagnostics port to pull code and see a data steam?
 
I would use a clean engine harness for your chassis and make it work with your current dizy, alt, and injectors by modifying or buying the correct jumper harnesses.
 
If the engine is not obd2, and all supporting obd2 integrations in tact, the obd2 port will be useless
 
but would it be possible to make the obd2 port functional by swithching to an obd2 ecu, wiring harness and dizzy
