OBD2 ECU cannot be chipped?

    Anyone confirm this? my friend said something about obd2 ecus cannot be reprogrammed for running a different setup like LS/Vtec or anything like that? Confirmed?

    no you need to get a obd1 ecu and have it chipped or slotted, you are also going to need a obd2a to obd1 if your 96-97 or a obd2b to odb1 if your 98-99 conversion harness

    Just an FYI here, it is certainly possible to run an LS/VTEC using a stock OBD2 ECU. The head would need to be OBD2, and you'd have to use an ECU from an engine that's similar to what an LS/VTEC is (a GS-R ECU perhaps, assuming you're also using a GS-R intake manifold).

    So it's not impossible, just not the best choice and certainly not a good choice if you intend to tune...

    The only tunable honda OBD2 ecus are listed here K-Series Programmable ECU

    Chances are you don't have one. I've heard of people hacking a k-pro ecu to work with a B18c, but I doubt it'd apply in your case.
