    Whats up guys.

I am looking at buying a usdm obd2 gsr swap for my civic and i had a few questions.

    1. What ECU should i run.. i know the obd2b ecu has the immobilizer so i can't use that
    2. What do i do about the exhaust as of right now i am running a WS2 cat-back
    3. What mounts should i use..i am thinking about just opting up for hasport mounts
    4. I know i can use my engine harness and most of it is plug and play but what would i have to cut and extend
    5. What are my options in regards to the butterfly valves should i keep them or opt out for a skunk2 IM

thanks guys for reading my post.

I think that is all the questions i have for right now but i appreciate all the feed back i can get.

    Welcome to the site.

Do you live in an area that requires emissions via obd port? that will drive what you can do more than anything...

    Thanks man.
Ya unfortunately i live in NH and they test for emissions but the gsr swap i am looking at comes with a p72 obd2a ecu or i think its obd2a cause he said it has the dead spot in the middle of ecu. So i think if i run a obd2b to obd2a jumper harness ill be all set in that area.

I did come across tho that some people have had issues with CEL code 91 would i have that same issue?

Check this site for the code 91. It done by Katman....he knows quite a bit. Seems to be based on some fuel sensor that certain P72's look for. I guess some Civics don't have this sensor (in the tank) while others do....?

    http://technet.ff-squad.com/code91.htm

Couldn't you just use a 96-98 USDM OBD2 P72 ECU? No immobilizer. And I'm betting it won't look for that fuel sensor. But I think you need to wire the secondaries if you're running a stock ECU with your smog regulations.

I'll have to check to that thanks for the info.

But what about running a skunk2 intake manifold..and i saw that rywire sells chipped p28 ecus would that be a better option or would i still need to run the stock ecu for inspection?

P28's are OBD1. Pretty sure the OBD2 scan port wont function when they smog you.

You can wire up the secondaries to the P72 ECU. It's not that hard or crazy. Just need to find their locations to pin in on your stock engine harness at ECU. I think it's A17 for one wire and 12v source for the other wire. But please look into it yourself.

I'm pretty sure need to wire in for the knock sensor too. I know OBD1 Civics didn't have it. Neither do the B18B1 motors. I'm almost positive you don't have it wired into your harness. I think it's D3 but look into it. Been a while since I've looked into it.

Just need some pins at the ECU for those parts. Get some with 3-4 inch pigtails. Junkyards/Recyclers have them. Just get honda and only at the ECU plugs. They are different sizes then others. I learned the hard way.

You may need to extend a few lines on your harness. You'll know as you hook things up. Pretty simple

Thanks dude for the link and ya that helps me out a lot but do I need the VTEC oil pressure connecter? And I just thought of what do I do about the fuel line and pump should I use my stock one from my d16y8 or will have I to upgrade to a gsr fuel line and pump?

Okay but I am pretty sure that the ECU it comes with is a 96-98 cause it has the dead spot in the middle of the ECU. Its a P72-A02

No need for any fuel pump or line changes. Should be direct bolt up and your stock fuel pump is plenty.

If it's a JDM ECU....check to see if it will work with a scanner. I've heard they don't. But maybe it's fine.

That's USDM then. If it's a 96-98....should make things easier once the added sensors are wired up.

You shouldn't need any VTEC wiring since the stock motor is a D16Y8 VTEC. But knock and IAB's need to be addressed. Also....I think you need a 99/00 Civic Si rear trans mount. Pretty sure Integra shift linkage is fine. And I know Integra axles swap right in.

Ya and I saw that rywire sells a sub harness that I can use to wire in the IAB's and knock sensor...which mounts can I reuse with the gsr? and I know I will need the 99/00 si timing belt post mount which I believe is the 2 bolt and I heard that my d series mount will just bolt on to that.

Yes, you need that timing belt mount off the Si. It bolts directly to the engine block.

You also need a 99/00 Civic Si rear transmission mount (attached to subframe).

Okay cool so I am having an issue finding a usdm gsr the one I was looking at was sold before I could get to it. How much more work would it be to put in a JDM gsr.

jdm ecu's sometimes aren't smog'able... depends on what tools your place uses.
and they have a 113mph speed cut...

Difficulty? If you've changed a clutch, you can do a swap. Difficulty depends on you. We've gone over the weird stuff already.

True but sorry for the confusion what I ment was how much more work would it be to swap in a b18c, and getting it to pass emissions. I am not quite sure if NH does smog testing I'll have to find out.
