not really sure where this post belongs, sorry, but i figured id get a fair amount of attention here, and this is where I normally post.

So here goes, I purchased this OBX manifold two months ago, and ever since then, it has needed more weld jobs than I have had to fill up my gas tank. It has just gotten to the point where im done with it and I cannot stand it anymore.

heres the view from the top, the red outlines show all the cracks that had to get rewelded.

where all the pipes meet? no differance.

since i couldnt weld underneath bolts, i even had to weld inside the pipes.

my car sounds like a lawn mower because of this crack.

and of course, the crack wraps around to the top.

im no fortune teller, but this small thin lined flaw looks like its a crack to be, a future of welds awaits this manifold.

this is why i want no more part of this manifold, look closely, the pipe is cracking.

so in conclusion, this manifold is absolutely terrible. it has been nothing but a nightmare since the first crack. the welds looks absolutely amazing, but of course, looks can be decieving. I hate it, thanks for reading. post this post anywhere you find someone looking into buying an OBX manifold. Let someone benefit from my mistake.

That sucks man.

But is it me, or does that manifold like its 20 years old, or has sat out in horrble conditions?

OBX is crap, and most of everyone knows it. I wouldn't buy one. But that manifold looks like its in horrible condition anyways.
 
nope the manifold isnt too old actually. ive painted it a steel color, but it faded into a reddish dark gray as soon as i ran the car. i tried sanding it off in order to show the blemishes but no better. obx blows
 
i hope those welds are not what u got when u bought it....they are garbage...and maybe if u had a llittle bit better welds when u fixed it it might hav worked out better for u...otherwise than that obx is junk and u should have expected it

sucks to hear that man, but majority of the time with obx shit you can see it coming a mile away. Granted some last, but majority don't.

may i suggest full race :)
 
that weld= SHIT

sorry about your luck. You might as well cut that piece of crap to pieces and try again.
 
one reason it keeps cracking, all the weight of the turbo (and DP) is hanging off the tubes. Reinforce it like the new manifolds and it will hold ALOT better. I know this to be a fact, because I have personally seen them (the new reinforced one) and it works great.

Get some thick metal bar, run it from the base of the flange that bolts to the head, and the t3 flange, weld them good, and it will hold the weight alot better

ssautochrome is of the devil!!! CRap products, Bitch attitude and never get refund or anything out of your return!! never do business with them. OBX midpipes suck also, no were close to a direct fit. Hi flow cat is good though.
 
I have had an OBX header on my miata, and I have not had any problems with it, granted it was given to me, and there is no way I would have bought it. Although I can see a turbo manifold being stressed more than a header.
 
Wank me off, dude. You got what was coming to you. Get an HKS log style manifold or drop the extra coin for a Full Race piece. You can't expect much of a turbo manifold from a company that advertises in Super Street and Modified Magazine.

Next thing you know he'll be on here talking about his shocking discovery that his APC coilovers performed terribly at an autocross event.

Oh wait... Mine's workin good so far! :lol: :lol:

**KNOCK ON WOOD** I'm 200 miles from home and don't need it to crap out on me now... lol :blink:
