i have an 96 teg ls, yea its an auto but not for long, whats the best technique to get off the line and get up n go with that auto tranny???, whats the best time to drop it into d3?

Sorta power brake it and dont put in to D3, cuase it's gay! J/K... about the time it would have shifted into third, cuase that's the third gear... yO

D3 will only help you if you're on the highway and don't want it to shift into 4th. You don't want to hold your engine at redline in 3rd- that's not good for it.

The best thing to do for a good automatic launch is to just floor the brake, then rev up the engine until it won't go any higher (to your torque converter stall speed), then sidestep the brake when you're ready to go. Try not to rev it too long when you're stopped though- you'll wear out your torque converter.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
