Alright so I hit the point where I need to cut my losses with my civic. I fried the piston rings in th stock y7, dropped in a y8 only to find out the oil pan had a crack after I started to develop a knock. So I have decided rather than keep paying payments on a car that is doing nothing but costing my tons of cash..I am going to buy myself something else and cut my losses. First I am gonna fix the civic and sell it pay off my loan and find something I can pay in full right away. I also have a guy interested in my trans am which will help me on the money issues. I can consolidate my debt so to speak by selling my two cars and buying one car and making sure it is reliable. I have a couple cars I have been lookin at so far what do you guys think?

First car is a 91 integra with the b18 new rebuild with something like 30,000 on the motor, coilovers, intake, optima battery, and cat back exhaust. Has some body damage on the driver's door, and fender.

Second is an 88 rex with an ls swap, rims, and body kit. This car is cheap as hell at only $1200 but needs a ton of body work both doors would likely need to be replaced, as well as the passenger side fender. However I have always wanted a crx, and this gives me the best of both worlds, a decent project car with lots of potential and a motor with very low miles.

Third is 90 accord 2 door, no body damage but 181,000 miles on the odometer.$2000 no body damage or mechanical problems. stock.

Fourth is an 89 crx with 234,000 miles on the motor but the tranny was just replaced, has all service records and its said to run great. only $1600. This may actually be the best plan for me because with my Trans Am being close to being sold I can buy this car and I already have the assets to do a y8 mini me in my civic. Which could be a decent setup in this car.

I personally would get the 89 rex for $1600.

Great gas mileage, and definately reliable with a replaced engine.

    Ha, you would do that...:p

Anyway, I guess I don't really understand why you need to get a new car. I mean, the problem with your current Civic is that the motor's toast, right? Well if you're gonna spend the cash to get it running again (which I assume means another motor), then why not just buy a B-series and build that?

It seems like you want to continue building whatever it is you buy anyway, so why not just keep the one you got, sell the Trans Am, and do it up right?

    Just my two cents...

If I had to pick one though, I'd probably do the CR-X with the fresh motor or the Accord. Those seem like the best deal out of them all...

the reason I want the new car is more or less the payments. I would like to get rid of my car payment each month it may not be much but it would free up extra money for me to spend each month or put away for school.

Ah, ok. I didn't realize you were making payments. It makes more sense now.

yeah it makes no sense to me to make payments on a car that has now just about toasted 2 motors. and before that the brakes seized up, and, and, and, I sold my Integra cause I wanted to find a car with less miles on it, and something that was hopefully more reliable, and bought the civic which has left me stranded a total of 5 times in a year. lol I thought Hondas were supposed to run forever. I even made sure the motor I dropped in the car was in good shape! There is a chance that the "knocking" I heard was a lifter, or maybe the timing belt...which would be way cheaper and easier to fix. I have a new timing belt that would work sitting in my garage, and a head from the y7 that is still in good shape. So yeah but if it comes to another motor, I will fix and sell it or swap the motor. I just need a car I can count on.

wow okay so I started lookin at craigslist again and found a car that for some odd reason caught my eye. Its a 90 toyota corolla gts 2 door with a 115 horse 1.6 liter. manual 200,000 miles but still running strong...I have never really liked toyotas for the most part not because of the motors but the body styles of their cars have never appealed to me...but for some weird reason this car looked like something I could definately work with. I haven't really looked into aftermarket parts availability for the car I am willing to bet there isn't much out there. What do you guys think?
