Original Engine ?

I have a 2000 Honda with MT that has a D16Y8 engine.

I bought is used years ago noticed that the ECM has been rewired guessing it had a different engine in it.

How would I know if the engine had be swapped out?

Found it in the VIN numbering info

2000 civics with the y8 should be an ex model.
