overheating

i have an 89 CRX i got for free....installed new Alt , Head gasket,thermo and paint

The problem now is the temp gauge keeps going up after it heats up...top hose is rock hard and hot,bottom hose is cool to the touch....what ya think it is?

thermostat, it might have froze shut. If the car has sat for a shile this is even more likely. but you installed a new thermostat, and you probably flushed the coolant system in the process of doing that. but there is no flow so, flsuh the radiator one more time and see that water flows fine. my answer is I don't know.

i drove it today and it never overheated...but radiator hose is still hard and V hot and im sure im loosing coolant as i drive...ill drain and flush tomorrow and let ya know ty

I have a 2003 Honda Civic LX. It recently ovwerheated and we checked everything to my knowledge. At what temperature should the radiator fan come on?
