Just bought a good 1990 crx si with a rebuilt motor already primered on the outside of the car. I am stripping the interior down and the inside remains red. My question is how do i go about primering the inside of the car? can i wetsand my interior down without creating a huge mess inside? maybe someone can help me in this area

in a nutshell, here is what you do:
1. remove piece you want to paint
2. wash piece to remove any residue that may be residing there. ex: armor-all
3. wipe dry
4. sand part using a fine grit sandpaper
5. wipe or spray dust off sanded area
6. primer and let dry
7. paint and repeat umm lest say twice. let paint dry between coats
8. put a few coats of clear coat on it and let dry
9. put freshly painted part in car
10. enjoy
thats basically it. i may have left some stuff out but you get the idea. good luck.

are you talking interior sheet metal?
if so use a 3m scuff pad to scuff the shine off then wipe down with a good wax and grease remover, I use suresolv (comes in a 4 liter jug or arosol cans). Mask off everything you don't want paint on, spray a good self etching primer adn from there sandit down with lots of water and a good wet vac nearby to help with the mess. Seal and paint
